I'd suggest finding what sort of game you enjoy and/or prefer most. For example, do you like the classic map? Do you understand the intricacies of Freestye? Do you like games against 3 or 4 players, or 7 or 8?
Control the variables you can to stack the odds up for you. Of course, most players you play of worth will be doing the same, but at least you'll be on level footing as opposed to going into a World 2.1 8 Player freestyle speed game never having played the map before.
Also, playing low rank players (cooks, cadets, privates) doesn't earn many points if you are a Sarge or higher. If you are a low rank, however, beating similar ranks earns decent points, and beating high ranks is mega points.
Personally I like 4 player classic freestyle with escalating and unlimited forts. I can change it for sequential if I've got plenty of active games going already.
I try and play games with mostly corporals and sergeants, perhaps with a captain or major if I can find one. If it's terminator, I try and take out the highest rankers if possible.
Essentially, find what you're good at, play with gaining points in mind (hunting down players in terminator, consolidating forces in escalating games), or if its looking bad, try and minimize losses by holding out, or forcing elimination by a high ranked player (better to die to a general than a cook, I think).
