As many of you have noticed the original classic map has been revamped into a distracting and hard to read product. There was nothing wrong with the original map. Please join me in signing this petition to change it back.

I'm thankful for all the effort, but lots of effort doesn't automatically = good result...

The result is AWFUL!!

1. The white dots don't make it easier to read, it makes it harder - and more ugly.

2. The territory names have not been "visually improved for added clarity and beauty" They look cheap and crappy - and harder to read... and it's the classic map... WE KNOW WHERE THE TERRITORIES ARE!!!

3. Southern Europe and Mongolia and Ukraine and others have their names and dots in WEIRD PLACES.

4. The 'key' in the bottom left... what the hell... it's supposed to be the classic map... not the CHEESY MAP!!!

FYI, since this thread is drawing in a lot of people new to the forums and strangers to the map forums....

I have already posted my opinion on the announcement thread.

I will never understand why they have put these circles in after doing so some months back and having an outcry.

Then to read that wicked says they are listening is laughable at best. If they listened to the community, they would have taken note of the fact that the community was against the lighter circles, but they did not, so one can only come to the conclusion that they don't listen.

Unfortunately, no.

The bulk of the CC community do not use the forums and may never even be aware this particular post exists. Therefore, it is impossible to tell whether the majority of CC approves, disapproves, or even knows (or cares, if I may say such a strong word) whether or not the new classic map should continue or not. My statement is not to point any fingers at anyone; its just a fact of life which like it or not, we have to accept.

In marketing, whenever companies wish to sell a product, they would issue a so called "trial period" for such products to see whether or not they would sell to the general public. In the case of CC, I would make the same suggestion. For new maps, they should also make a "trial period" for these maps to see whether or not they play well to the CC public. Heck, maybe if they are up to it and with mod permission of course, a few lucky volunteers from all corners of the globe may be able to "test run" the maps before they even hit the trial stand. Hey, I think a spark just hit my head...lol What does everybody else think on this matter.

In the case of the Classic Map, I'm am not too knowledgeable right now since its tax season and all, and it's been keeping me swamped with loads of work. But one of the things the mods could do (and someone could post this into the suggestions and bugs forum ) is for a time, place both the old and new maps on the game options, explain what they are trying to do (like in that new announcement section on the top of all the games), and then see which game in turn would sell more to the CC public. It may be true the new map indeed is not the perfect map the mods had hoped it could be (it's happened before), but we will never really find out for sure unless the community as a whole is involved in the process.

So let's keep the debate civil

Or perhaps this is further evidence of the 'community' created here(that is becoming a joke) being ignored. When members did register their dissatisfaction, the like of Optimus Prime just tried to get smart with their responses....yet another example of the low regard we, as the members who pay and keep this site going, are held in.

I like the more vibrant colors but think the army circles should be darker...

Maybe resubmitting this one with a choice of gray (not white) army circles and putting it up to a quick vote could resolve this before everyone automatically hates everything about it.

thanks wicked for posting the link for the British Isles as well. I have to say that impresses me as much as the new classic!!!

i repeat my view that the foundry have done a wonderful job in expanding the maps available to play on, and it is one persons choice over another to play all of them or not. For example i love the 'age' maps, and even something like Bamboo Jack, but you can keep the likes of the railway one and the 'brain' one. When i see a new map i immediately play start a game with it to 'trial' it and see if i like it.

I then choose to play it again or not. Probably half i steer clear of as they seem ridiculously over complex or unreadable, half i embrace and play as often as i can.

I have probably made my point clear, the original maps that are the MOST popular as i recall maps ingame are that popular for a reason. We simply dont 'need' them improving. Simple as that. Why do it?? I mean that - - why??

I seem to remember reading a thread from Blitz as i recall showing how Classic and Britain maps were by far and a long way the most played.

I VERY much like the idea of running the REAL maps of Classic and Britain alongside their new explanantion mark 'improved' ones. Test the number of games started with new versus old. For all i care keep them running alongside each other forever, but certainly for long enough to prove beyond all doubt in real game play that the 'old' is BETTER than the new!
