Game and Ranks....

Postby Bruceswar on Sun Apr 13, 2008 8:48 am

For all the high ranking players who seemingly only play team games or private games. Here is why you should open up some public games. Now I am not saying I am high ranking or that I am good but here is a scenario. This is about as bad of a lineup as one will come across. Maybe not skill wise but ranking wise... http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=2170145 Wit that being said I came out of this only losing 19 points. I lost 44 when I was eliminated but I gained 25 during the game. So a net of 19 lost. I am sure many of you lose more in your team games when you lose and do not tell me you do not lose. Sure the risk may be higher but I enjoy the challenge. Discuss and flame away.

i made it over 2000 points by playing terminator for the simple fact in every game i managed to get some points.
however there is a big problem with terminator games. in a lot of them you will be targeted and people will effectively suicide on you just because you are high ranked.

i've stopped playing terminator after a few such games where right from the start a few opponents attacked only me hoping to get 40-60 points.

it really sucks.

Works the same way on standard... People target you to get out the better players... But you can fight them off.. I play all types of games. Terminator, Standard, No cards, etc etc. I mainly stay away from Fog of War Games due to the fact I have soo many open I would lose track of where people are etc.

nope it doesn't. in standard you can't suicide on somebody because you'll both lose points.

whereas in terminator suiciding pays off.

for example a player with 4000 points plays vs 3 new recruits.
1 recruit suicides and kills the 4000 pointer and thus gets 80 points. then because he is so weak after suiciding he is eliminated and loses 20. he still has a 60points profit.

in standard if the recruit kills the 4000 pointer and then gets eliminated (because he's weak) he loses 20 points and gains nothing.

to be honest to some extent i don't blame people for doing that, i mean it is a legitimate way of gaining points.

imagine me and other colonels plus the conqueror. if i suicide on the conqueror i get 40 points so even if i get eliminated later i will still have profit.

You are correct, but the fact is new players and lower ranks do not see the difference in the games. Hence why they stay lower a lot of the time. I manage to survive the suicides and pull out a few wins. When it comes down to the key points in the game you can usually count on a lower rank to make a mistake. Now this is not to say I enjoy the mistakes they make sometimes, but I play all ranks and everybody makes mistakes. I am better off for my mistakes. Anyhow point of this is players need not be so closed minded and trying to protect their score so much. I know people work hard for it, but surely if they are as good as the rank says they can keep it there.

Before I post I have to say I do not feel like reading what is below the first post, and above mine.

Terminator is great when you start out. When you get to 2k + it's pretty hard to hold your ground. Props to whoever can.

I play it all. Terminator is just one type of game I play. I seem to be farming good points off them as a whole. What I notice a lot in terminator is people will nearly kill each other in the first few rounds thus leaving a lot of clean up kills and easy cards. I have decent luck with all types of games.
