SURVIVAL GUIDE TO THE CURRENT POLKADOT CLASSIC MAP

For all those suffering on this map... change to LARGE MAP setting, I just discovered that it is quite tolerable.
For all those that AREN'T complaining... change to SMALLER MAP setting and see what the laptoppers have been experiencing.

Also, to those who AREN'T complaining... I imagine that you play more flat rate & no cards than you do escalating. Which means you don't need to study the board long to make a move.

Well, it won't explain ALL of the contrary thinking, but this does help me to finally understand the people that aren't particularly bothered by this crap version. Most of you likely are playing the Large map, flat or no cards, and perhaps with fewer players. Well let me tell you, Playing the Small map, escalating, with 6 players has been absolute torture.

Btw, i made comments on the large map being much better than the small map the day the new classic came out. I play on a laptop and my screen is just too small to play on the large map comfortably. As for all those people mocking others for not recognising that the old map was black 60%, the whole map has changed. Look at an old picture of the classic map and you will see that this new map is greyer and duller.... leading to the black 60% circles to look darker.

There is an endless wave of crap maps with technically good graphics but with huge playability issues. Those idiots have more or less successfully done the same to classic.

I hate the new version, the old one was fine in my opinion except for blue taking Europe. I would rather have sights problems as blue than play the hideous new map

The touchup was sanctioned by lack to be sent through the normal foundry process, which it was. I guess you could technically be angry at the anonymous artist, though he was just following criticisms made by the foundry at large. So it seems you're calling the commenters out. The people that made 10 pages worth of thread debating about various aspects of the new map, trying to make it look better. And after it was all done, there was about a 6-day period between the last criticism and the stamp of approval... no one had anything to say. Everybody that looked at the thread agreed that it was ready to go. No one meant to get anyone's attention, cause all the controversy, screw with the general population or screw up Classic. Everyone was just trying to make a better map.
Obviously, it didn't work as well as planned So don't be too hard on the Foundry... we try.
Anyway, I realize this isn't the real point of your post, so I'll get off your back now...

yes i don't have any classic games as i rarely play that map. i have the cardboard version at home and for the past 10+ years i have played it a lot. things do get boring after a while.
but despite not having any games going on classic i do know how to watch a game on it as i often do that when i find high ranked games i like. and to be honest i see no problem with the army circles. they make everything so much readable. especially the blue armies in europe which was a bitch to see before the change.

I think it's all fine and good to take all the time in the world to be sure the next change doesn't create yet another debacle, but in the meantime why not simply PUT IT BACK the way it was?

I looked thru page after page in the Map Foundry thread, but saw NO indication of when we will actually see some change... This is getting extremely frustrating for many people...

I have stopped starting or joining any classic games (1 exception due to lapse of memory)... and yet I am forced to play this awful version day after day until my current games end.

Let me say just a few more things before I get off my soapbox...

1) I appreciate the good intentions that created the change in the 1st place
2) I appreciate the efforts being made to improve the current situation
3) I appreciate that Lack is involved and committed to a change
4) But I AM REALLY PISSED OFF that it has been decided to leave this in its current botched condition for what has already felt like an eternity. MY PATIENCE IS AT AN END!!!!
