Fog of War

Postby bermanap on Tue Apr 22, 2008 6:58 am

Is it just unsportsmanlike or against the rules to announce a player's position in a fog of war game? This keeps happening to me and it is getting very annoying and pissing me off.

It does work good on 1 v 1 games and 1 team v 1 team.

this was just in the forum last week, and the week before and the week before... so thank you for bringing up something fresh and new!! now, however annoying it is, it is not against the rules. and leaving a neg, as suggested, for something that is not against the rules is just wrong. i personally think it is poor form and bad sportsmanship, but i do understand the other side of the debate. that being said, i prefer to not play fog of war games at all, unless it is a team game. there needs to be a clarification of the Fog rules.-0

I'll leave the "unsportsmanlike" for others. I will argue that it is definitely questionable at best. Only the players who are in a position to see the armies can know if such a statement is true or not and they don't need to know in the first place. Therefore since you have to assume that some people might abuse such notions to give out false information (especially if the other player is not paying attention to the logs) that such statements are heresay at best and not trustworthy. It's kind of like claiming what's in your hand in a game of poker. (I'm thinking of games where some cards are public and some are private.)

Yep, I love asking if anyone will exchange intel then giving out a load of rubbish.

Probably not the most education, but Game 2108725 I told completely the truth that I was dying but won still... I was just emphasising the need for an alliance with green. After we got an alliance we easily elimnated the winning player and I was left with his cards.
