I know enough about FW and 'Social Lounge' history (that has occured since I arrived) to give you some help...

er.. well my first game was in the 100000's i think which makes me a bit of a grizzled veteran. i'm a late comer to a few of the forum subsets but my post count is well over 2k. on the downside i'm finding it distinctively difficult to recall too many major events but here's a few from the top of my head.

blitz hitting over 4k for the first time and a gap between 1st and 2nd of about 1000 pts, which will probably never be replicated.

pilate and scorba kicking ass on a too regular basis.

pedro's leaving and subsequent return.

the sad exile of norse.

MM17 and cyberdaniel's reign of esc singles terror.

when robinette was set in winning ways. :D

when the bushwackers used to not only exist, but also be quite good!

the formation of thota, of course, and the seismic ripple in the cc waters that such a groundbreaking event incurred!

when no new recruits were allowed into team games; the subsequent development of freestyle esc and nuanced maps as point harvesting central.

the Iceman getting BUSTED for stealing teh internet!

rev kyle and the stache crusades

stevie griffiths, medal of honour and other shocking high ranked multi busts lost to the ravages of time.

JAMIE and KAYLA! (how could anyone forget?)

and a host of other not so interesting events. this is almost like folklore!

i even found an amusing little ditty i wrote when trawling my post archive : D

Well, I spend way to much time on the forum, and very little in FW, but as to history all I basically know is there seems to have once been this guy call norse.....

Seriously, owen basically has a post in every thread, so he might be the guy you want...

I think you need at least 4 or 5 people to help you really... FlameWars and Chatter box- Mustard (plus perhaps Hecter) would do you well.
General - Owen would be good, as would Fitz and Wac..., and of course the evil Wicked would be well placed to know pretty much everything... and she has the added bonus of being ever-present and active... she knows where all the skeletons are.. muahhaha she put them there! ; )

you also need a Cartographer and some multi hunters or an avid cheat hunter like Rocket for example.

But you will be lucky to get the aid of most of these busy peeps.... and you certainly need to offer a little more information in order to ensnare the participation of these giants of our Forum worlds.

hmm i see, perhaps i should get a different person for a different clue? I suppose i can layer it out alittle better... ill make the official thread without sign ups right now for a good reference

in reference to the topic in subject line, please take a look at the first post (if you havnt since i updated it) might you be willing to host one round of the hunt? what that entales is for you to find a post, a thread, a player, or a game, all your choice, and create 7 clues (starting with very vegue, and ending with relativly easy) to guide players to this point. It does not matter to me whare you take it from, as long as its not too easy for the players 8-)

are you interested?

true enough Owen .. but the thing with this place is that it is rare to have a figure around constantly and prolifically.. so you need a few who know different eras... this little one could be yours ;)

These two topics have been annual traditions thus far, and may help point you in the right direction or give you some ideas regarding some of the history of CC thus far.

interesting to read *read both of them* cool stuff

Overall ive gone a slightly different direction, rather then just looking for a co-host I am now making this more of an event... in which major members will create the areas we are looking for and what not :)

Good initiative indeed :)

I'd offer to help (I think I saw a PM from you that I hanv't opened yet) but I've been stuck in the back rooms for too long :(

Wicked knows the day to day stuff better than most anyone and has been around forever.
Koolbak, zawbanjito and itrade were around in the early days of the forum and were pretty active back then, if you can get in touch with them (they still are active in games, but not on the forum so much)

Andydufresne, wacicha, happy2seeyou and clapper011 could probably help you out with "the middle years"

owenshooter, hecter, dancing mustard and fircoal would be the ones to catch you up on the current goings on and the intricacies of the more off topic stuff
Retired.
Please don't PM me about forum stuff any more.

I've been around for a long time.... (wow. its almost been 2 years)
Joined May '06, and I've been on the forums ever since.

I know quite a bit of stuff thats happened. PM me with more details if you want my help.

I am good with every section of the forums except Tournaments and Flame Wars.

I know quite a bit of map foundry history. I could collect clues related to that (with a bit of help from Gimil and Andy, to fill in parts I don't remember)

ayeaye, i did send you a PM about this, I dont belive it would take alot of work for those individuals who choose to help out, Its all explained in the tournament thread i made
viewtopic.php?f=90&t=50251
Best details i could really come up with for now :P I would like to have prominent members from across the entire CC site, I have 9 rounds in total as of now, and the better spread of experience the better :)

I, of course, would like the scavenger locations to be somewhat historic or a big event, just for the sake of newer members learning a thing or two about the past, but this is not necissary *looking at owen on that one :P *

But those who choose to help will be given 1 spot, which means they will select A location (a thread, a specific post, a game, or even a player) as well as 7 clues to lead the players to tihs point.

Hopefully this clears a thing or two up :P if you have any specific questios just ask cuz i dont feel like i am explaining it fully ^^''
