i feel bad for the guy, but defending the notion of taking asia for a bonus in an 8 player escalating game is pretty damn funny... hell, taking australia is usually impossible...

I have to admit though, his footsie and little girl comments would have been great......if he actually had any idea how to play...

I actually agree, he obviously had a knowledge of risk coming into it. Its just amazing how those weekend games differ from the CC version of domination. Hell, ive had to pm no less than 5 people games where I had one borders in non secret alliance games for them to believe it. Players that swore there was no way to have a one border without cheating. After my tenth example or so, the resistance seems to slip into quiet acceptance.

Eventually, if this guy sticks with the game, he'll no doubt be waiting to sweep the board with set after set of cards, laughing at the days of trying to hold asia in a game where bonuses are like women...they are fun to hold, but theres always another guy to mess it up for you, and the benefit you get, is not always worth the amount of work it takes in the end...

I am the guy that sent the PM. Although I don't feel my rank usually represents my skill (I have to deadbeat a lot of games because I play at work and sometimes get sidetracked), I am willing to admit that those guys were better and more skilled at that particular style of game than I am (and probably most other stlyes as well).

Anyway, I just wanted to own up to being the guy that everyone seems to be so entertained by making fun of - I don't take it personally. Bruceswar seems to be a nice guy, and asked my permission to post what I'd sent him. I'm glad you're all entertained.

FYI - I chose Asia to put troops in because no one ever wants Asia - most players think it's too much work to try to take a continent that big early in a game.

of course! go for asia first because no one wants it! why didn't i ever think of that, it's absolute genius!


p.s. i have also played a game with owens before and while i can't say he's a particularly good player he does know his pink floyd and for some reason doesn't find any humor in killing lutherans to drink their blood

Too many people I know can't play risk... no patience for the game to wait around, half are moderately illiterate, as they never read, etc. I pity them...

If someone comes in with a grasp of the basic risk game and strategies, then he definitely has potential ^^

Well rash seeing as we have played a few games now, you will know I at least know what the hell is going on even if I cannot pull it off. I might be slow at times in a speed game, but both me and you are sound players. You are better than me. due to your quick thinking and cleverness, but anytime someone needs help I am willing to help even if it makes the slightest difference. At the rate you are going you will be to a star soon. Also I would have never posted the PM without his permission. BTW I was not belittling him. He will a test that in the reply I sent I sent him thoughtful responses. Some people would have told this guy to "GFY". I think he is willing to learn and that is the best thing of it all.

Well Rash my intent was not to belittle this member. I was more laughing at the way he called us all little girls and the footsie comment. I did not even take the Asia bit into thought much. He was pretty spot on about the kissing ass in chat and waiting on a 60 set to run to the table. Lets face in it those games it is all about doing favors and helping out. Weather it be your game or someone else's game. The whole goal is getting it to where you can win and if that means throwing a block to save person X, then normally you will do it. Why because you know it will give you another chance to win. Leaving Asia out of the thought process for a bit the rest of it was funny. Besides that the person that sent me the PM loves the same American football team as me All is well
