Customer Service AIN'T that tough

Postby jpliberty on Wed Jun 18, 2008 7:07 pm

(apologies if this not repeats something I posted earlier about this game---because the server is down again, I have no way of knowing if the earlier message was posted---AND, since CC doesn't seem to respond to E tickets, I won't post it on that---unless, of course, the E Ticket system starts working again)

Game # 2675709

The other guy got screwed. Me too, but I won. Someone has to adjust these points.

This is the third game I've dealt with like this, reported them all...MANY times, because CC doesn't respond, it seems, unless you report continually.

How about this for an idea? You simply cancel all speed games. Would that help? You are doing NO ONE any favors by keeping speed games when the server obviously can't handle whatever is causing the load.

I have NO CLUE if cancelling speed games would help. What WOULD help is for CC to stop putting out notices like the one put out just yesterday (I think) which gratuitously mentioned the new GB storage you got which will enable you got handle 15,000 MORE customers.

How about handling the current customer base?

Really, give this poor guy back his points...AFTER you do that, by taking the points away from me, look into my currently standing 3 E tickets on the same subject in 3 different games.

Really, get a grip, respond to your customers before you tout to your customers who are dealing with the lousy server that you are going to add more customers. That just plain sucks.

And, that ends the rant. Still, you folks do a great job...just hope you will find a way to cancel the service temporarily when it is down...it's a real bummer to get stuck like you just stuck my opponent and I in the game mentioned above.

It simply is WRONG to penalize that player for your problems...

Speed games that were adversely affected by any server glitches will be deleted (see the announcement about "downtime" made recently). It might not happen immediately when you send in the ticket, as each game has to be reviewed by staff, and as you can imagine there are a number of affected games. If Lack is doing something that'll affect speed games, he'll post a warning beforehand so people can plan and play accordingly. However, when things happen like servers unexpectedly crashing, there's no way to warn people beforehand, only to react and clean up the mess.

Understood and appreciated.

However, why don't you just shut it down for speed games, and for whatever else puts on the load (forum, god forbid?).

I just think you do you a disservice to do otherwise.

Because someone could already have the game won and be like 10 seconds from winning when it goes down.

When we add RAM to the server the machine needs to be powered off. We can't keep it on just for casual games.

Adding additional memory chip set into its slot does not mean just plug-and-play, the standard procedure includes ensuring that the server is powered off and static free before plug-and-play and while you're at it, if the inside of the box is dusty ...just perform some spring cleaning carefully.

Why all of a sudden the need to add RAM like this? Have you figured out where the addittional load is coming from?

Like many others here, I have no idea about how servers work or even running a website. However, if you guys would like some suggestions on how to do this thing that I have no idea about, I'd be glad to share them with you by starting 10 or more threads on the subject.

Hey, finally something I excel at! I can tell people how to do things I have no clue about better than anyone.

Maybe we could team up det? Surely two minds working together on what they know not would be better than independent conclusions.
