Legalized Deadbeating

Postby hulmey on Wed Jun 25, 2008 9:53 pm

Heres a question for all you Speed Double's players and 1 vs 1 :D

You join a game and the game's over by round 3. Should you stick around and see it to the end or deadbeat?

I deadbeated my last couple of games. First i said GG, im suciding, cya around. Then i left all my countries with 1 army.

The reason im asking is i got a few 1's on the rating's system for attendance and attitude :?

Wasnt it easier to just kill yourself and deadbeat thus not getting 3 armies and cards every turn!!?! It does kinda prolong the enviteable

There have been games in the past where I have thought for sure it was over, then things turned around and I won. You shouldn't give up! Never give up. If you sign up for a speed game, see it though. It takes less time to start and end your turn than it des to wait out 5 minutes each round to deadbeat.

A deadbeat is a deadbeat is a deadbeat. If you leave the game because you have no chance to win, you are still holding up the game for other players. Their first order of business is to follow through on their strategies, not eliminate a quitter to make it more convenient for you.

I dont see it as holding up the game...Espically in singles or doubles...It actually takes more time if your done for...

Ps...to happy, i know when i've got a chance and when i havent. Its just i think it easier on the other party if i sucide in certain games.....

I've had it happen to me loads of times and i dont mind (as long as they respectfully sucide)

You ARE holding up the games, because no self-respecting player is just going to trust that you aren't coming back. They're going to sit there waiting for you to finish missing your turns. Even if you've been beaten in the first 3 rounds, you should still show the courtesy to take your turns.

whats taking your win or loss got to do with anything. If you have left all your countries with 1's, everybody knows your a dead duck. It actually saves time coz sometimes games with luckey dice or licey cards just prolongs the pain!!

who in their right mind thinks that you can win with no bonus, cards and all countries with 1's. YOu guys havent convinved me one bit that the way im finsihing isnt correct!!

I actually started playing this way afer everyone done it to me after it was imp[ossible to win in maps like waterloo

First of all, I have a chance in speed if your opponent's tinternet goes donw. It happened twice to me in games comprehensively lost otherwise. Second, by not playing in a multiperson game you affect chances of other players. I have recently lost game because a player X deadbeated. He was fighting a losing battle against player Y with whome I was finely balanced. If he stayed and fought for another two rounds, I would have deservedly won. He buggered off instead and I lost.

It is needless to mention that Pl X ended up with 1's for attendance and fair play and on my foe list

What do you mean you don't see it as holding up the game? If you can't see how making the other players wait for your turns to expire is making the game last longer, then you are either one dumb muthafucker or....... well, I can't think of any other explanations.

me too, play your games if you sign up for them. as happy mentioned earlier taking your turns in speed instead of waiting 5 minutes to expire is shorter than deadbeating. as well, it's a pain in the ass to take out someone who doesn't care because you have to be wary of the d-factor, some douchebag who is making you spread your armies just to have you show up with 'x' deferred armies and swing the momentum of the game. there's a topic in FW about it right now.

Game 2683417

The above game is an example of what im trying to say. You can see the huge map ize. You can see how many bonus's armies the other team are getting. There is no way im going to win this game. If there was a SURRENDER button, i would have pressed it....

Game 2703114

Same here but someone done it to me. Did i mind? No, he had no chance of the winning the game. So in the 5 mins he had,i mad a cup of tea....

=D> [-X

1.) I just got back from a 7 month layoff, so yeah I've only played one speed game. I've played plenty of doubles games in the past, and I'll play more when I feel like doing so.

2.) Regardless of game type, dead beating makes the game last longer. Period. End of story.

3.) Questions are punctuated with question marks (?), not exclamation points (!).

4.) I couldn't reply to your PM for some reason, so I figured I'd just post it in "your" thread.

well then you shouldn't be asking to legalize deadbeating, you should talk about consensus deadbeating, if the opponent agrees i see no problem with it but for someone who doesn't appreciate it i'd find it very frustrating to have happen to me.

No kidding? Well, that's not going to stop me pointing out when you're being...unreasonable... with your expectations. You started this thread, saying basically "Hey, I think it's fine to deadbeat a speed game, when I know I'm losing. What do you guys think?" This was followed by many a reply of, "That's stupid. Just play the game out." So, based on the general consensus here, you have 2 options. Either stop being a sore loser and finish the games you start, or accept the fact that sometimes you act like a tool in games.

well you were acting like a dumbfucker, an arrogant fucker at the least starting a thread and then saying how you didn't care about any of our opinions. i think it's pretty evident to most of us here you're talking to just hear yourself speak, and you so conveniently seem to ignore the opinions of happy2seeu, timminz, and myself, people who all have the experience you criticize irone.gle of not having... no retort for us?
