would you have us change the names of on the classic map as well? most of those countries have changed now too. perhaps the map maker intended it to be from years past. a historical map. a reminder of old. sometimes things they way they are just plain dont make good maps.

The "British Isles" map is a lot more detailed and up to date and I don't think it would take a huge amount of work to alter the name.

Yeah but even though it's a separate state, it's still geographically connected to the rest of British Isles. I'm assuming it is a geographic name not a political name so Ireland can still be connected while still being a separate political state.

actually all discussions of quenched maps go in their thread in final forge.

in this case, there's a revamp happening on the map so it'd go in that thread.

Thanks for the help edbeard.
Appreciated :)

Now I won't pretend that actually I knew this all along, but it turns out as a Suggestions & Bug Reports moderator I can't merge or move topics into the Final Forge - for obvious reasons I guess.

So I'll leave it here for now and flag it for one of the Cartos to move.

Please Drop the "British Isles" and just call it what it is Great Britain & Ireland. Us Irish fought to get out from British rule and do object to Ireland being classed as a British Isle. Love the map hate the name. Thanks [-X =D>

As Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, shouldn't it be UK and Republic of Ireland (or Eire)?

Well the map has been based on an era where Ireland was a part of the UK so that is why it is called the british isles.

the london territory on the map includes the county of surrey. i think gimil did this so that the name would fit inside the territory, instead of sitting in the south coast territory. it's theoretically possible to make london its proper shape, though we'd then have to live with the name going outside the territory.

gimil, have u fixed hadrian's wall yet?

will u be following mrbenn's suggestion of putting a notice on the current british isles map (big enough that no-one can miss it) to let people know that the revamped map will soon be taking its place? without some sort of warning, some people are certain to be more than a little unhappy...

Are you planning on fixing the borders to match the original before quenching? This map is fairly popular and I believe many people (myself included) would be fine with any graphical changes, but be strongly opposed to any gameplay changes.

What about Cumberland to Borders? This attack is not in the original map, but looks like it is in the revamp.

I believe the geographical name for Britain, Ireland etc is still the British Isles: It has nothing to do with sovereignty, just the geographical name for the archaepelago.

Calling it Great Britain and ireland would still be quite correct (although, the Isle of Mann fits into neither of these names) and I dont think many would mind too much (except the usual gang of revamp enraged CCers who will think they have lost their old map entirely).
