CC and I (first 12 months) or is it the end?

this is 1st time I start a new general disc. topic.
I have joined Premium Mem. almost 1 year ago. (2007-07-25, 20:17:22 according to lack)

I used to play 30+ games at any time.... now, less than 10. Have 5 going at the moment..
CC is the only site I have Premium for.
Why I joined:

20%[ game of Risk (I am not terribly fond of the game, but I'll play it for few minutes during lunch or tea)
15% Forum browsing, asking or answering questions (This is one of the very few Game Sites where opposing view is tolerated in the Forum-sometimes.)
10% huge and ever-growing Map selection. (I only play few World2.1, N.America, 8Thoughts, Classic of course.... have no time for Doodle, never will play ConquerMan..)
10% Tournaments play (Have won one Tournament, was fun for a while.... I am still in finals in one Tournament... but, that is not really my cup of tea)
45% ability to comment on the game, ability to leave comments for the players ( I do not know if I have ever left a -ve... I could be wrong... I preferred to comment on positive aspects of my opponents game (win or lose). Reading comments left by others was always interesting and helpful, some were funny, some cheeky, some downright stupid...

Now, I can not comment on the game.
Looking at a row of star's I find boring, annoying, and not helpful at all...
I am told that in rating 3 is the way to go??? Leaving all 5's is considered an abuse of the system. So, now I do not rate anyone. Sorry, players, had couple enjoyable games, would like to leave a +ve...
Medals,.... do not really care how many I have or do not have, how many Joe has or Peter does not have

So now what do I have left??

20% game of Risk (there are few other sites that have better (for me) games than Risk eg., Navyfield (no stupid Dice) or KDice (if I must have my Dice Fix)
15% forum browsing is most likely the ONLY thing that I would miss from CC (from HMV Wicked, to all the Noobs that I have fun talking to)
10% map selection, new maps do not interest me ( have tried and odd one now and then, but no thanks)
0% Tournaments Play. Nor really interested any more.. take for ever...
0% ability to comment on the game - can not comment on the games played any more, rating has no substance, no real meaning...

I gave someone a 2 & 3Star rating recently... Went over the game today, and I have NO Idea why I gave 3stars... And please, do not tell me I should always give 3's. That argument sucks. If I can not work out what my ratings mean... LOL... How can anyone else??

When I joined I had 100% interest in CC
Now, maybe 45%.. More than half is gone...

IMO ratings means absolutely nothing now and are a whole lot less personable and bad players get off easy.

You'll get no argument from me about how bad the ratings system is. It is useless and arbitrary. However, I find something very, very, puzzling in your break down.

That really, really seems quite odd.

So, in essence, playing the games themselves was just a means to an end, that end being you got to make comments about other players? I've got to think that there's some website that allows you to just make comments about people without the bother of having to waste your time playing some silly game before you do.

Honestly, if I had to guess, I'd say you were exaggerating how important the rating system is to you for effect. After all, it's not like the old system was amazing or anything. At least, not so amazing that it would be worth enduring a game that you claim you don't really enjoy all that much to get to.

Agreed.
Maybe I did not express myself well enough. My original post was all about: why I paid money to get a Premium.
Strangely enough, it was the now obsolete feedback that was main reason why I have joined as a Premium. Once I had Premium I tried different maps, most of which I did not liked...etc..

Anyway, thank you all for your comments. Appreciated.

+1 and my premium is up on the 11th July.

Doubt I'll renew but can be persuaded by some great members.

I don't find the forums overtly friendly seem to be ruled by the the same guys with high post counts who subvert the game to their own rules if you question them they get hostile (see various freestyle threads on waiting to last minute to play)
