Hmm.. good point. Or one may double-count it as the "Republic of China" also claims the title. It seems to be that the author of this thread didn't think things through... :D

If we are going by when the game was made Siam needs to be added.

there is still a country called Congo.

the africa map shows it too...

Then it could be argued that, instead of representing a given country called "Congo", the Congo terit instead encompasses a larger region that encompasses both Congo nations, plus an unspecified acreage of the Congo River's watershed. Thus, Congo would no more represent a country than Middle East. ;)

so because the area is larger as congo it isnt counted as congo?

Surely this argument falls flat on it's face if we're counting the 4 countries in South America?

Last I've checked I don't doubt that the country north of mine, Malaysia is Thailand.

Hmm... seems like we're are down to 2 then. Iceland and Madagaskar not only are reasonably independent countries, but their borders are also correctly showed. New Guinea, albeit an island, seems to have chewed up Papua Guinea and some other turf as well. :D

And the Ukraine subtracted

China should stand because there is only one of them, the Congo, however, is in 2 countries names and therefore does not represent one country.

I love how several different people can come up with several different answers in this whole debate and at least be "right" according to how technical they're being...

(oh, and I wasn't really serious about china not counting since it's not called the DRC... just stirrin' the pot)

i still say there's 16...
  • 1 Venezuela
  • 2 Brazil
  • 3 Peru
  • 4 Argentina
  • 5 South Africa
  • 6 Madagascar
  • 7 Congo (i think it should still count...)
  • 8 Egypt
  • 9 Iceland
  • 10 Ukraine
  • 11 Afghanistan
  • 12 India
  • 13 China
  • 14 Mongolia
  • 15 Japan
  • 16 Indonesia
that is my opinion... so ya, technically there is no right answer, its always depending on how you look at it...

yeah... that was "sarcasm", and way to keep the level of discourse up by reverting to name calling
for absolutely no reason. you not only showed your lack of class, but also your lack of intelligence and
uber limited vocabulary... you are a winner in every respect!!!-0

Too many beers and too tired to be anything like a sensible question setter - but hey! - it made a different topic that a lot of people tried to guess!

(I don't believe that Congo is a country. It's an area that encompasses 2 countries calling themselves DR of Congo and Rep of Congo)
I just forgot about Ukraine!!!!!

Are we talking the names of the countries or the size. Because in South America 3 of the 4 territories are larger than they are in real life. Venezula has got Colombia, Guyana, French Guyana and Suriname included in it. Peru has Bolivia and Ecuador. Argentina has Paraguay, Chile and Uruguay. In fact to be technical only Iceland, Brazil, Madagascar and Japan match their sizes and locations in the world map.
