Hardly a fair comparison. Someone with a bad connection is most likely aware of it, whereas them knowing about CM's without doing a bunch of research is not as likely (I didn't know about them until last week).

I'm glad you brought up the connection speed issue though...

I have never played in an escalating freestyle speed game (that I can think of), but I have watched several. It is my observation that allot (if not the majority) of turns are taken in the last 30 seconds of a round. Now, if the person that doesn't have CM's has a plan to take out another player with say, 10 territories, they're going to have to start their turn allot sooner than the player using CM's(making it obvious to those that have CM's what their plan is).

That said, I would argue that the game becomes more about connection speed and CM speed, than it does strategy. I'm not saying that you can be a knucklehead and win every game as long as you have a good connection and speedy fingers. I'm just saying that if you have these tools and someone you're playing doesn't, then you have an unfair advantage in these style games.

You may be right. Any suggestions to make it less bias?

The 'no' result still rules anyway so add this to the fact that it's biased and you see that clicky wins.

quickly browsing your games of your last 100, you've done 25 non-freestyle; not really understanding how with your supposed talent and self professed ability to reach 3000, why you can't even reach 2000 when every 3 out of 4 games you play is freestyle

Im talkng about 8 player speed freestyle esc no fog unlimited classic.

I'm watching and will be interested in the outcome. I take back whatever I say on the unlikely chance that you win, considering you're against skiller, EckoJ, spikeboat and Ramned.

Ya and in case I'm for some reason brought up...my score's what it is because of doodle assassins. I got to 2424 by playing 1v1 doodle freestyle no cards unlimited speed games alone.

i just downloaded CM to see what it's like... i think it provides just as much as an advantage (probably slightly more) as BOB does for many users. BOB's map inspect allows even the most amateur of player to dropkick a bunch of players in the nuts on maps like waterloo, where connections, territory names, and bonus structures aren't the simplest to understand. i actually like using the map click for deployment, but since i'm on a laptop with a touchpad, no mouse, i didn't find it much quicker, i just enjoyed knowing i'd like never misdeploy again. i can see the benefit of CM but as others have mentioned its akin to a faster playing connection but i'm on a shit connection and was just using CM to conduct my normal seq turns and found load times etc. to lag it slightly so i don't know if it serves as an equalizer in some cases or an advantage in others - i think with any type of plug-in there is the possibility of it being an unfair advantage given the opponent, and if you are opposed to them there are ways to ensure your games don't have them and there is "equity". private invite game, seq only games, etc.

You're right, that is the best way to ensure "equity". I only play in games that I feel will be fair for every player.

Thanks for giving it a test run Trap

You've gone up a few ranks since this morning, well done!

Now, for the facts...

Did you feel like you had any kind of technical advantage over any of the players in those games ? Or was it pure skill, and nothing more?

Clickable maps are a joke. It takes away from the fun. Those that choose not to use it when playing others that do my as well just quit in freestyle games as you have no chance in hell.

What it does is gives mediocre players the advantage in games when they have no business winning. They win solely on speed as apposed to skill and/or strategy.

There are plenty of players on this site who choose not to use it yet still maintain a respectable rank and yet there are others who use it to maintain their respectable rank as they do not want to lose to lower ranked players as they would have no chance.

Bad add-on all around.

Personally I wouldn't care too much if clickies were banned - I might stay at Colonel instead of Brigadier but you're utterly friggin' ridiculous to even insinuate that you can trash strategy down the game. I see multiple people using clickies but I'd say I'm better than a great deal because they still can't see the board (and there are those slower than me that can read it even better than me).

IMHO, clicking very fast is not stategy, that's another kind of skill.

Most times the winner is not the smartest player, but the fastest one.
