Hardly a fair comparison. Someone with a bad connection is most likely aware of it, whereas them knowing about CM's without doing a bunch of research is not as likely (I didn't know about them until last week).
I'm glad you brought up the connection speed issue though...
I have never played in an escalating freestyle speed game (that I can think of), but I have watched several. It is my observation that allot (if not the majority) of turns are taken in the last 30 seconds of a round. Now, if the person that doesn't have CM's has a plan to take out another player with say, 10 territories, they're going to have to start their turn allot sooner than the player using CM's(making it obvious to those that have CM's what their plan is).
That said, I would argue that the game becomes more about connection speed and CM speed, than it does strategy. I'm not saying that you can be a knucklehead and win every game as long as you have a good connection and speedy fingers. I'm just saying that if you have these tools and someone you're playing doesn't, then you have an unfair advantage in these style games.
