CLANS That Share Sigs and Avatars

Postby Robinette on Thu Jul 17, 2008 12:07 am

Why have so many people given away thier individual avatars and sigs for generic clan-tars?

The avatar and sig on this site are two of the most pronounced ways to express who you are as an individual... yet, there are those that willing substitute individuality for clan-a-mation...

I've got nothing against clans and social groups and what have you... but it gets really annoying associating a particular person with a sig or an avatar only to discover that i'm dealing with a friend of theirs... why I've even lashed out at someone and later discovered that it wasn't the idiot I thought it was...

Here are just a few examples...

Image
A standard Coat-of-Arms, but with reference to THOTA... Not sure, but it might stand for "The Horsemen Obiviously Tizzle Alphafa"? And they have that silly backwards reflection sig thing, too...

Image
this one had some personality, but after so many people joined it takes too long to cycle thru the name and pics...

Image
What does that mean, anyway? Don't tough the Legion?

Image
Now I still think people should have their own personal sigs... but i don't care who you are... that is one nice looking tooch...

Well, there are many more, but this should be enough to make my point (and ruffle some feathers, too)...

So i challenge all you clanners to get creative and make your clan sigs more creative... individuality with your clan logo emblazoned in the corner perhaps... you'll think of something, i know you can do it!

For G1, most of our members use a signature based on their chosen transformer but then have random and personal avatars. Several members have also listed their tournament championships in the signature. I'm currently using my promotional banner for the Clan Tournament, but I was using a generic Generation One: The Clan signature. I'll probably design something more personal after this signature is not needed.

I like the siggy's and avatars that reflect on the person. Scott-land just made me a nice new siggy. It shows that I am in the Phoenix Warlords and has my name on it. I'll keep my own avatar so I stand out from anyone else in my clan.

The siggy banners I like the best are the creative ones. For a while I liked to tease Trapyoung about their rainbows and unicorns.. then they made that banner. Yes I am a female but I still like their new siggy banner. I really liked the rainbow flames as well.

I like the "branding" that our clan banner has. All of our avatars are individualized. And our pictures on the banner are mostly real, as opposed to people on here that use pics of models or cartoon women, to express themselves. Yes, I was wearing a robot head (not giving, wiseguys) and yes, I heart me some vodka.

If your in a big clan, it's nice to know when your playing with / against a clan mate. Thus the text added to my Avatar - even though we also have the standard Eagle avatar option. I'm also the only person with the yellow and black sig - I like it because it matches my avatar. I guess noone else in the clan does though :( but I left plenty of room to customize it with tourney wins, slogans & such.

Give them credit - it's the only sig I recall being parodied.

I am in the MARVEL/DC HEROES clan, we each have our own sign but it depends on what character we want while still being reflective of the clan :D

if you look at the link, you will see that it is called clanwarsig1.png, indicating that it is to advertise our clan war.

Oh Owen. I was responding to your claim that half the clan was using it for 2 weeks. Yes, half the clan was using it, but only for a couple days, and then most of us switched back. Although, I must thank you for pretending to find our joke funny. If it weren't for your pity-laughs, we might start to develop some sort of complex.
