Plan to renew? EDITED POLL -- REVOTE NEEDED!

Postby PLAYER57832 on Sun Jul 27, 2008 1:05 pm

I have heard a lot of folks say "don't renew" or "I am not renewing", but the first question is how many people even think they will renew ... regardless of any "issues".

EDIT: Having 3 options was a mistake, particularly since I only had 2 "yes" options. I believe originally, I wanted to allow people to put down multiple reasons for leaving, BUT without also 3 yes options ... the poll IS skewed.

Right now, there are 53 positives, 49 negative votes. The results, however, don't mean much because of the "3 votes allowed", but only for negative options since there are not 3 positive options.

Also, to see my response on poll bias, please go to my comment on page 3

At the moment I see no forseeable reasons why I wouldn't renew. Although alot can between now and next May.

How so? Because I did not leave more yes options? I figured if you were happy, you were happy, but that it might be good to know "why" for any no's. I mean, if cost is an issue that says something quite differant from being bored with Risk, disliking the "dice" or other issues with the site.

The perks of premium are a nice thing, even if you don't play a kajillion games
all at once. But freemium makes it easier to control my addiction to this game.

Strangest thing lately? A mod actually edited the word FUCKING in one of my posts
even though I used it as a descriptive adjective and not as a fucking verb. Which
was very confusing to me as I was in a game when someone who was not in the
game posted to the game chat that one of the other players "sucks cock". So I
contact a moderator about it and they responded that "someone posting so-and-so
sucks cock to your game chat is not abuse."

Exactly right.

There may be many reasons why people voted yes - not just "of course"...

Why list the reason? Should've just had "Yes, "No", "I'm freemium - not planning to buy it", and "I'm freemium - am planning to buy it"

If they keep changing things every week, often not for the best, I dont see myself renewing until the site gains some stability.
Im here to play and have fun, not to readapt all the time and try to find out through forums what and why it happenned.

If you ask me, all they had to do was to keep the ratings (old feedback system, it was personal and simple, a system proven efficient in gazillion of cases: simplicity) as they were but use that archivineg thing to avoid retaliation, not change the site over, then re-change it after a few weeks when they kept saying to give it time, people would ge tuse to it.

Well, I got use to it and i just realised today that everything changed again.................

I quite agree, have said this many times! ALL polls are biased, but they can still inform.
This one is most definitely NOT scientific, it is mostly for "fun"/curiousity.

changes are afoot, and fairly enough, people in the forums have always had a say or input in the process. granted, many people never check those threads and simply complain after the fact, but we do have an option to offer input in the process. flawed poll, and yes is still easily leading...-0

I am not opposed to this site, actually I figured there would be far more yeahs than nays ... and that was one reason I wanted to do a poll, to "prove" it!

I did give more neg options, but that is because I thought it interesting to see why folks might not want to renew. Primarily, I wanted to separate out those folks who really have issues with those who's life has just changed/"invaded". It was not because I thought there would be more negs than pos.

Anyway, as I have said before, the forums tend to collect more complainers than folks who are happy. So, having overwhelming postives ... probably means the site as a whole is pretty happy.

I voted yes.

And who else thinks it would be funny as hell for someone to "gift" a year of premium to everyone who yelled and screamed "I'm not renewing!!" over the ratings update and termination of wicked? I sure as hell do.

I wouldnt renew under present circumstances. CC is going down hill and its not what it used to be. I only stay around coz of clan challenges and the clan im in....

The ratings system is my main problem and now the automated deadbeat clock which doesnt work. They have also screwed up the ranking system with all these new map types. Not to mention yo cant find a fuking speed game without it being "freestyle"!!!

Also, im still getting the time out error which makes playing speed games really annoying coz i need to come out of the game again and then re-join it. So with all these added together, no i wont renew not that i ever have bought premium!

Everyone has his reasons and none of them should blindly discounted by others!!

Thats not to say CC hasnt improved in some errors, like moderating, the forums look good and the medals are nice addition. Also the map foundry is ticking along nicely and Night Strike's new clan tournament looks like its going to pave the way for some interesting addition's

1. I could understand how the rating system might screw up a couple games where before you wouldn't have joined a game with a player because he has 10 negs but now his 4.7 rating makes him indistinguishable from everyone else. But, I don't quite get how this is a 'make it or break it' thing for you. On top of other problems sure. But it being your 'main problem' makes zero sense to me. (I think the new rating system is horrible and have always said numbers will not help as much as words can. A better thing to do would be to keep the old system but do a community feedback moderation).

2. Ranking is just a penis size contest. Who really cares? OMG he's only in first because he plays freestyle speed fog on waterloo. I don't see how it's a big deal. I guess I wouldn't understand though because I HAVE A LARGE PENIS

3. not having the game types you want can be frustrating. But, you can always start your own speed game!

4. time out errors are obviously bad and to me this should be your main outcry. there's been quite a few server issues in the past couple months but I don't play speed games so I don't really know how much this type of thing occurs. I only know about the two big crashes.

Im not going to quote you ED. But what im saying is that all the issues rolled together is effecting my CC experience drastically and not for the better!

With regards the 2 server crash's that doesnt bother me coz im well aware that these types of things happen. Unlike some i can understand this becuase i too work for a company that provides a gaming experince to its customer's. My problem is that im constantly being timed out and asked to "reload". This happens on a daily basis whether at work or home!

That said there have been good things but just not enough

This poll is bogus, because you can vote 3 times. That means there could be 3 no votes, but only 1 yes vote, because there's only 1 yes option.

I agree with kingpin01.

THIS POLL IS BOGUS

Anyone with a hint of education in stats can spot a mile off that this poll is heavily biased.
I appreciate that you're posting a lot of things intended to improve the site PLAYER57832, but this poll is terrible. You can choose 3 options... yet only 1 is positive? So, a positive vote counts as 1 vote, and a negative vote counts as 1, 2, or 3?! Shame.
