you were off topic, about a personal spat between the two of you, because he mentioned you as an example of abuse of the system (and he was spot on, too, with what you left him, ahem...). sooo, don't even try to act like you were on topic in your defense of what you did. and i just nudged you to drop it so it could remain on topic for those of us that care. and, i do not have an opinion about it, because none of the opinions i had were implemented. i like that you can comment on what people have left, but it doesn't take care of the abuse aspects of it all OR how to get abusive ratings removed.-0

p.s.-nice try scott, but you were off topic and you know it. keep your personal spats in pm's or im's... if i can get a ban for going off topic, i'm sure you can too...-0

p.p.s.-calling someone a TOOL is not the way to keep it on topic, it is a way to derail a thread. name calling is not for the GD. it doesn't raise the level of discourse, and encourages poor behaviour from other members that may view your actions as "the norm" in the GD. let's all police ourselves, and then the mods can spend their time on more important things.

Sure it does when the OP made a thread called ''Stop fucking up the rating system"- he opened the door to his prior actions as being the tool that is indeed fucking up the system. He is the one off topic not me- by justifying is actions of which are totally untrue as he hit a stack of 15 the previous round and was 42 armies short from my other 3 fronts when he supposedly went for the kill.

PMs- I have his pm where he asked me to remove him from my ignore that he had made a terrible play. When I didn't, he gave me all 1s. Totally on topic...

If you're gonna mod this thread and whine about using the word tool- as to how I took it off topic then you are indeed a tool as well. Ban me mof'ker....

Just by posting nonsense about a thread being off topic- it's you Owen that is taking it off topic as you had nothing to say about the OP's post. Go spam elsewhere plz. [-X

You realize of course that a 0 merely means unrated, it does not count towards the totals.
No, all of your former numerical ratings in that category have now been zeroed out, whether they were a 4 or a 1, so it DOES affect the overall rating. I went from a 4.5 to a 4.4 with no new actual ratings.

You guys can argue until the end of time and these ratings will still remain utterly meaningless, pretty much everybody gets a 4 or 5 rating each game and human nature dictates that it will always be so. Why on earth would I start throwing out accurate ratings ( and there have certainly been a few 2s around in my recent games ) when I know full well that the end result will simply be retaliation, far easier to keep giving and recieving top marks. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the old feedback system except that it prompted a degree of unwarranted / retaliationary negs - replace low ratings for negs and we have exactly the same situation now except ( and this may be the key point ) the mods have washed their hands of individual complaints. Jeez...it just gets worse and worse. Now the historical gameplay ratings are all zeroes out (which affects the overall score) and nothing is stopping frivolous tag abuse. Why does this shit just get shoved down our throat, anyway? I don't recall seeing any heads up about this at all?

Seriously, $25 may not be a lot of money to some, but I enjoyed the system the way it was. The ratings is a legit part of the gameplaying experience and you just keep making it worse and worse. Do you have any regard for the user community here?

I can't wait for bitter idiots to put totally bogus negative tags on the zeroes now. Seriously, if you're going to do this, you might as well just go back to freeform ratings comments.

I thought the whole purpose of going to stars only was to make it simpler and less controversial for everyone, players and mods alike.

Amen.

I just read my PMs to you again and none of them ask for you to take me off. In fact, in the second, I told you I'm fine being on your ignore list, but whatever...

Sorry for creating this thread and stirring up any shit in the process. I just want to be a peaceful player and love everyone and skip around and sniff flowers.

This guy's amazing- put everything else aside. Bottom line is you're complaining about players that are abusing the rating system which in fact you admitted to doing yourself. I'll have to agree that a player should be able to put others on ignore without being retaliated with all 1s. Yield to your own complaints and stop leaving poor ratings when unwarranted- that would be a step in the right direction.

I dont rate people and don't care how I am rated. I also don't look at other peoples ratings. Do people actually consider ratings when joining games?

OR, leave few ratings at all. Seems the higher the rank the lower the number of ratings left.
Of course, the higher the rank the lower the number of unique players one has defeated.
I don't know the ratio, but I can say that most of the highest ranking players have some really sorry ratings figures...if indeed you think ratings are good, important, etc.
Ratings have about as much validity as rankings, which is to say, NONE whatsoever.
