The Ratings system is as important as score since that is what you see next to peoples names while looking at games. If it is bellow 5.0, do not bother even clicking on the persons profile. Rank is really vague since it gives a 100 - 500 point range. Ratings give less than a .1 range of error!
And think about it: all a high score means is that a person clicked on the right thing during a game at some point in time. A rating means that the person did or did not do something (the something being limited to everything and nothing) that made someone do something else. This means that the score only the decisions you make in a game, but rank is everything you in that game, plus what you say, what you do not say, what you do in the forums, what you do not do in the forums... the list goes on and on. Therefore, ratings cover a much broader aspect of the player.
The Ratings system is perfect as it is now. People had to explain everything they thought in words, which are limited to only several hundred thousand in the English language. While now, they use numbers, and tags to explain the overall, without going into those long boring details that explain their thought about the player.
This is why the ratings system is better than what they had before my time here. Besides, we are better off now than we were living in caves. We are better off with this site now, than we were without it 3 years ago. THEREFORE: we are better off with the ratings system now, than we were a little while ago!
