How's everyone doing?
There seems to be a bit of an issue going on in regards to freestyle turn taking.
So I would like to solve this problem here. I was going to ask whether or not negative feedback is appropriate due to casual taking of turns but that would simply come off as crying about neg feedback and that is not what this thread is for so I will word it as this...
Is it ok (Acceptable and without fault) to take turns casually in a 24 hour game?
Now, in terms of my opinion, I believe speed games are for sitting down and playing through to completion... I believe a player who makes a 24 hour game may play speed as well, but that being freemium neglects them of the full power to choose. If they host a 24 hour game, the acceptor does not have to play RealTime with the host who may be looking for a realtime game.
That being said... I play CC while I am at work.
I do security alot right now and while on lot duty, I am able to have a laptop out where I can watch movies, play CC or listen to music if I am not tracking an individual or performing my rounds. Alot of the time I can make moves on CC, play a little bit but I am required to stay alert should I be called into action to respond to civil unrest.
When I get a call or have to make my rounds, I obviously have no choice but to do so. In that case the music is turned down, the movie is paused, and CC is minimized. I do not make 19$ an hour to neglect a call or postpone my rounds so that I can stay on CC to start a turn so that someone else can get a bonus.
CC's front page says: Designed for the casual gamer, playing Conquer Club is not a time consuming process. You can take your turn in 5 minutes with your morning cup of coffee or in between classes.
If you are drinking your morning cup of coffee, finish and wipe the table and your opponent takes a bonus when you leave... should you stick around to begin your turn? If you have 10 minutes before class, check your email, print an assignement, make your move and head out, and your opponent has taken a bonus, should you stick around and begin your turn?
In my case, if I am playing a casual 24 hour game and I make a move, get a call to action and my opponent takes a bonus, should I delay my rounds, when I get told that someone's pulled a needle on an employee and made off with some goods, or has assaulted 3 officers and that I need to take them down, should I say: "Copy that, give me 3 minutes".....?
Obviously you can tell that it would not make sense. So I know there will be answers on both sides and that is what I am looking forward to. Obviously someone who has taken a bonus will be looking for an early start, someone who doesn't want them to cash in on the bonus will say no, but when it comes down to actually needing to act and not having time to consider playing strategy because you are doing something else.... is it inappropriate not to start your turn anyway?
I don't think so.
CC's front page says this game is for the casual player. When it comes to feedback then... Is it then fine to decide that the person you are playing has no right to treat the game casually and must move when you want them to or be deserving of a negative feedback or harsh language and abuse?
You guys vote and let's see what we come up with.
