and snorri is perfectly capable of shooting the civlised shit. so to speak.
Let's hope so. He does come from the same mold as DM (by "Mold", I mean "forum", and by "forum", I mean "Flame Wars"). Truth be told, I read Flame Wars quite often. It's a guilty pleasure of mine. Everybody knows FW is a spectator sport, something along the lines of gladiatorial combat and cockfights.

Nobody said this was going to be a utopia... all we're trying to do is create a forum that's better than the ones we already have. So I conclude that you either enjoy the mediocrity of the current forum (sadism), or believe that the current forum is utopia itself (delusion). This will not be a dictatorship, it will be a libertarian oligarchy (at least as I imagined it). So don't spread rumors like that.

You're really going to have to prove yourself Snorri... you have a lot of random, pointless posts.
OH NO SHIT SHERLOCK! This doesn't say anything about my capability of behaving in a civil manner though. I troll plenty of threads for the sheer pleasure of fucking with people, but I have shown (unlike you) that I can also debate other people who act reasonable without resorting to cheap stuff.
The fact that I post loads of bullshit all the time does not mean I can't talk sense, I just rarely see a reason to do so.
Well, okay... but we have no reason to believe that you won't troll people in the new forum. You're saying "I swear I can do the right thing, even though I almost never do it in the current forum, and have shown no sign of stopping". Of course, I can't exactly take you on your word, now can I?
Which is interesting, because entertainment is one of the main reasons I talk with you guys (except in FW - see above). Here's another gem:

You resorted to using cheap stuff ("unlike you") in the SAME SENTENCE that you claimed that you don't resort to cheap stuff. Sometimes I wonder if you guys use logical fallacies just to see if we can spot them.
Face it, Snorri - you'll argue with people if there are others on your side, or if it's easy to do so; when it heats up, however, you'll run away from the argument, take your classic "bemused and apathetic" stance, and start trolling. If you're going to be childish, don't fight with the big boys.

We don't have an agenda. We just win all the arguments..... can't help it if we're all so smart......
Ughh... I hate this...
You can have as many logical skills as you want, but open-mindedness and creativity play a huge part too.
Not when the typical translation by many people of "Open-mindedness" is "accept that I'm fucking right".
Seriously, way too often logical arguments get replaced by "oh well you just hate God" or whatever bullshit counter-argument the religious come up with. The problem is that the Atheists are the ones that have to be more open-minded, while the religious people are by definition "open-minded". I'm willing to admit that there is a small possibilty that God may exist, there is a logical possibility, are you willing to admit that God might not exist?
What would really help is if you all stopped labeling me. I am not "many people". Here's my idea of someone that isn't open-minded:
john9blue, from an earlier post, wrote:atheists or fundamental Christians or whatever that try to press their irrefutable beliefs on me
There are closed-minded Christians. I can't believe I even have to explain this, you know it already. What I'm saying is that shutting your mind off from God and shutting your mind off from the possibility of there not being a God are both bad. Science is a continuous process... discoveries are constantly being made, and opinions are constantly being revised. I treat God the same way; I never say that he must or must not exist. It's not a hard concept.
