All depends upon what maps and settings you play on, but on average i would say CC is 70% skill and 30% luck.

If it was more skill than luck you would see players going in and out of the top 10 on CC very regularly but it stays the same with only the odd change, which backs up my theory that there is more skill than luck in CC. ;)

This makes no sense at all....

You seem to be in agreement but then again you sorta do not. You are correct, the settings you play make a difference.

What i meant was that it is the maps and settings you play on which make the difference, some maps need more luck than others, so different maps have different luck and skill levels.

But on average out of all the maps and settings i usually find that getting really lucky would win you around 3/10 games.

I still don't think it makes sense but oh well.... :|

Clickable maps is a must in Freestyle speed ..Its just pointless playing that format if you have not got it .I see no reason to download BooB tho .Why can't you guys just look at the map and see where to hit .
Risk is mainly luck .Very little skill if you play like minded players .

Another player that is clueless and would get absolutely crushed if he dared to set foot in an 8 man speed game. Stick to your banter- you're obviously more skilled at it than anything else outside of beating a couple of unsuspecting noobs in dubs. ;)

It's all about how much you're willing to pay lack.

completely depends upon the board settings and maps

Skill will prevail over time, but on a game to game basis, again depending on the map and settings...luck has more of an impact

A truly skilled player can hold their own even with bad dice (well, with mostly bad dice anyway)

Playing is about luck, winning is about skill ;)

I agree totally, in any given game (except 1v1 games) you should be able to accept bad rolls and still have a chance to win, the dice shouldn't decide in most games. Though sometime they do. If the dice aren't the source of the luck then getting stuck with a stupid chef who suicides or getting bad cards is the source of bad luck.

I believe in bad luck because i dropped tremendously the last 3 weeks, but i know it all evens out in the end.

1 v 1 games 50% luck 50% skill, every other type 5% luck 95% skill

Yeah right. Try going 0-12 in a game and tell me that. No joke - I even took a SS of it. I was pissed. 6 rows of 0-2 on World 2.1. I had 14 armies, I was supposed to kill 2,1,1,1,2,1 and fortify to that location (if I didn't kill the last 1, it was no biggie). I didn't kill the first two. You can't recover from that.

Exactly, if a skillful player is having bad dice they can hang in there until there luck changes around whereas a less skillful player would probably give the game away just attacking randomly because he is so mad with the dice.

I'm sure those high-ranking players will disagree because it takes the shine off of their point totals, but the simple fact is this game, especially with the streaky dice, is more about luck than it is skill.

A lot of other factors contibute too:
-Players in games with their friends, who make sure one of them wins.
-Players using hacks.
-Idiots who get a hard-on for someone and play, not to win, but to prevent someone else from winning.

Bottom line - it's a game of dice and therefore luck is the major factor.

Elijah,

Could you point out where the dice are streaky, because yeti_c and DIM did a test and showed they weren't streaky...but if you can prove it, we'll change the dice.

And I'd be interested in hearing about these hacks and if they exist, we'll close the loopholes :)
