control panel pm rules

under private messages in your control panel it says rules... i cant understand at the moment what do these do?

You can make a rule that says if anyone you do not like PMs you, their message will be deleted automatically. You can also create folders and store messages from different people in one of these to be more organized. Rules help you do that.

If you are trying to make it do a certain thing, post it, and I can guide you through it step by step.

tanx! but like 1st you pick what type of thing you are picking eg message sender etc then you pick from words like is... if... and then you write in what you want it to be about in your own words.. and then you pick to delete or mark as read.

Im confused as to how it will know what you are talking about in your own words unless its like an AI which i doubt or does someone go through everyones and process them? or have i got this all wrong? lol
