I don't and I hope it's not permanent ; we need a world map more complex than doodle and less than 2.1

Well, I suggested in the "New Middle Earth Map" thread (over in Foundry Discussion) that we make the Middle Earth gameplay into the new mid-sized world map. It's being accepted fairly well so far (by that I mean two posts). Apparently the Middle Earth map was one of the most balanced maps in the site, in some people's opinions.

I think the initial attraction of may to this site was the risk-type world map. I hope we can keep the basic game play of that type of map even if we cannot keep the risk-type map. However, now forced into this situation CC could let the variety of classic maps explode, and let a creative range of maps develop.

I'm open to at least looking at changing the direction of that map slightly if it garners a lot of interest. that direction would be to take the classic map add ocean territories and land-water connections (and also brand new graphics from someone). crowding would be a huge issue so I'm not sure if it's really feasible but if there's a lot of people wanting it then something can be figured out.

even if it's not done that way and I just continue with what I have, it's another world map that's significantly more complex than doodle and significantly less complex than world 2.1

I don't see why the map is wed to a "map" of the world. It could be anything from art, as we have, to politics. And we could have more than one map, maybe 10.

I like it a lot too, great solution and layout.
but the artist names fitted to movements could stand a little editing.

I quite liked it at first glance, even discounting the fact that it has Classic gameplay. It's flawed, but infinitely better than Shapes. It needs more contrast, more depth. The legend could use an edit or two, and the background could be improved. But I think my biggest gripe is that not every territory is a rectangle. It just looks sloppy to have only a handful of non-quadrilateral territories; like the mapper didn't think it was worth his time to rearrange them a bit to make them fit properly.

Perhaps an improvement might be to use a montage of the artists pictures as a background would be an idea (developing an earlier idea).

I agree that the colours could be more vivid, it is art we talking about after all.

But so far so good.

Classic Art isn't that bad actually... and I like the suggestions for sprucing it up.
