classic map solution

Postby tyche73 on Sun Oct 19, 2008 7:35 am

why not just write a script for grease monkey
that would paste over the current classic map
that way CC is in the clear and the lovers of the classic map would still be able to enjoy their favourite map
just a suggestion

yeah, i reckon it's possible and worth a go.

if it is legally ok the site will have to remain silent but if it is not they can speak up.

so if we hear nothing official, i say go for it.

I highly doubt that Lack will allow a script like this to exist on the site.

He would not be breaking copyright, if this happened through PMs etc, the people who make the script would be breaking copyright

Regardless, I am still 100% positive that Lack and Twill will not allow the script, at least not to be advertised on CC.

That was the point I was trying to make, if this script went ahead, you would not be allowed to make threads regarding it

I fully support this thread.

This is an example of people actually trying to make the site better.

Keep at it guys. Catch you on the flip' side.

Kind of like digital media copyright, because i actually own a copy of the board game, i'm not breaking the copyright. do it, i was about to loose hope and get my fix else where.

what? this is bullshit. i already posted this idea TWICE (in the xml forum and the suggestions forums) and it got deleted both times... how come this thread gets to survive?

on another note, i fully support a black-market level xml cover for the classic map. we'll just have to keep it on the down-low ;)

Don't forget that's the small version. We need the regular sized version as well. It might be better to force the users of the plugin to select their own image from their PC so you don't have to worry about bandwidth or anything, too.

Why don't we add a 'Valhalla' area that troops move to instead of dying? Or an 'Atlantis' territory that got destroyed after turn five or something? Those things would totally differentiate the map and I bet nobody has ever thought of them before.

FWIW - as stated in other threads around here - this won't work properly anyway.
