New Map for Paisos Catalans

Post by thisboy »

Hi, I have an idea for try a map of the "Paisos Catalans" (Catalan Countries), my country, the region of Europe where we speak Catalan Language.
I have found two maps with the countries that could be in that map.

In this first map we have the six diferents states (Catalunya Nord, Catalunya Sud, Andorra, Franja de Ponent, Pais Valencià i Illes Balears), and in this second map we can see the regions.

What do you think?

Catalonia is a big nation (more than 7 million people). And we are more than 12 million people who can speak Catalan.

Well, appart from the political discusion (this is not the place to do it), I think the map could be very playable.

I've post the first image in the first post, the second is too big for posting it.

I've found this map of all the regions of the state Catalunya Sud (this state is divided in four province and more than 30 regions; but if there is too much regions we can make less):

We could have bonuses for each of the four provinces and one big bonus for the state.

Also we have the state of Andorra (you can see in the first map in the begginer post.

Here you can see the regions of the state of Franja de Ponent (four regions).

Here the map of the state Catalunya Nord (six regions)

Here the map of Illes Balears (four regions)

and finally the map for Pais Valencia (also more than 30 regions divided in three provinces).

We can do it in two different ways. The first way is all the regions (more or less 70 - 80 regions, like World 2.1), or only 22 regions (4 provinces of Catalunya Sud, 3 provinces of Valencia, and the rest of states, plus Andorra).

But the question is if you would play in that map or not.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but if you're looking for an outpouring of support for an idea for a map encompassing a population quite a bit smaller than that of metropolitan London, you'll be waiting for awhile. All you've done is posted existing maps of the area, which is not even the first step of the 100-step process that goes into getting a map from an image in your head to a gameboard enjoyed by the site. And ideas are a dime a dozen.

However, if you put some time into creating a draft, this thread will be moved to the drafting room, where you'll stand a much better chance of feedback. If it's a good map, with proper graphics and solid gameplay, and if you're willing to put in the time, then I can guarantee you feedback.

I suggest you read the How to Make a Map thread in the main foundry.

I wish you good luck should you choose to pursue the map.

Not knowing anything about Paisos Catalans and what it meant I Googled it. Based on the map on Google it looks like you missed a small area called Alguer in Sardinia to the East. For playability this territory could be reached from either Catalonia or Minorca. Just a thought.

Yes, I'm thinking on introducing this territory also. Thank for the help.
