Fair: Each player is set with even circumstances, assuming equal drops.

Sequential, by a long shot.

Freestylers use scripts to cheat.

Unfairness of starts in sequential is easy to eliminate.

I don't understand how they cheat. Someone explain.
I agree, sequential is fairer. There isn't an extra variable like time to consider.

Most people use a scripts that lets them move faster, by not using the dropdowns that everyone else uses. Some people program their moves so that they can all be executed in fractions of a second.

I'd say it really depends on the map/settings, the relative skill of both players, and probably a few other things. I only play sequential, because it's "fairer" for the way I like to play (I don't want the timing of my turns to be part of the strategy). I also will never choose unlimited forts, since playing sequential, going first with unlimited forts gives an "unfair" advantage(except on a handful of maps). I would guess that with equally matched players (using the same scripts as each other), freestyle could be more "fair" if it's a speed game, or both players are online when the game begins. Although, I can't really comment on freestyle as I don't play it, and therefore don't know much about it.

The more control there is, the fairer it is.
Time is a variable that nobody, even with super scripts, can control.
Therefore by logic sequential is fairer.

You have forgotten that it has been statistically shown that the person who goes first in a heads up sequential game has a strong advantage, primarily due to getting more armies to start off with.

TIME vs ORDER OF PLAY

What's worse? Speed issues, or is it more important to play at the same time ?

So far people are voting heavily for freestyle...

Then if both of them have one flaw that nobody can control, then there's no way to determine if one is fairer than the other.

i think freestyle is more fair, as long as the two players are about equal speed. There is no advantage for going first, the only luck factor is the dice.
