Re: The Great Eagle River
A good idea but can you emphasis the height difference?

I'm sorry, but height difference between what? Did you mean between like one region and another or between the ground and the territory markers, or something else alltogether? Thanks for your feedback!

Yes
Because that really answers his question very clearly.

Re: The Great Eagle River
Sorry what I meant is that if there is highlands then there must be lowlands. So can you make the distinction greater?
Re: The Great Eagle River
I see. The rocky terrain is meant to indicate mountains. I'm not sure what could be done to make them look higher. The "Expanse" could be renamed "Lowlands", but is it really necessary? That is, can't there simply by mountains that are called "Highlands" only because they are mountains and not because they are necessarily higher than something called "Lowlands"?
Re: The Great Eagle River
I'll try to work out a verion that has borders instead of connecting lines and we'll see if that is better or not.

Re: The Great Eagle River
I really like this so I hope it does not get sent to the recycling bin. I don't have any specific suggestion, I'm just showing my support.

Re: The Great Eagle River
I still think that you have a lot of potential as a mapmaker - it's a shame you're not getting more feedback
The attack rules still lack clarity, particularly around the river - the arrows are a bit vague, I'm afraid...
You've mentioned that the map isn't based on a real place... I'd kind of assumed it was? If it's completely fictitious, then you may went to think of some kind of backstory that would help set the scene for a battle on the river? If you can find some way of telling a story through the map, you could be onto something... your graphics are of a very good standard, but the idea as it stands currently doesn't seem to have garnered much support from the rest of the community, which is a real shame.
If you're going to make this idea work, then you need to find/create some kind of hook... If not, and the map continues to flounder, I would suggest turning your (obvious) talent to a different project

Re: The Great Eagle River
Most drafts seen by new mapmakers are very poor, this looks like you can make a smart, well polished map.
Now the bad news, this kinda reminds me of the classic shapes, but with better graphics. I think you should use standard territories.

Re: The Great Eagle River
Thanks for the last few comments. I'm working out a version with standard territories and I'll post them side-by-side and see if I can put it to a vote. It might be a little while though, I'm a bit swamped right now. For moderators: please don't send me to the recycle bin again. I fully intend to continue working this project until completion.
Thanks,
J

Thanks MrBenn. This is really helpful direction. I'll see what I can do with this. I really like the idea of coming up with a backstory. Also, thanks for all your encouragement about map-making in general.
Thanks,
J

Re: The Great Eagle River
Ok, so I like it so far, it looks good. The territories look like they are completely different from the background, almost like they have nothing to do with eachother, but I also like how they are square, which stand out. Also, you should get a title, and you may need to expand the space or re-arange some things around, but I like it!
P.S. If you would like me to make you a signature for the map that links to the topic, PM me or email me.

I'll do some research to see if there was a Native American tribe that used rivers stratigically in any historical battles.

Re: The Great Eagle River
I like the map as it is.
The only problem is the two +7 bonuses. On maps of this size, it is unlikely that either of those +7 bonuses will be held. Asia on the classic shapes map is never held because holding its +7 bonus makes you an immediate target

It would appear that development of this map has stalled. If the mapmaker wants to continue with the map, then one of the Foundry Moderators will be able to help put the thread back into the Foundry system, after an update has been made.
