why not have a single globe as the Legend in the left-hand corner, which alternates between Eastern and Western bonus' when the map refreshes.
That will avoid clutter whilst retaining this nice feature.

(you could also make your monster wink in the opposite corner...)

While that would be a nice touch I just do not think it is going to happen on CC.

Say that's not really a bad idea, but it wouldn't require a change of map on refresh, which would require some special coding, I think. It could be done by using the animated GIF feature, like ConquerMan, n'est-ce pas? A slow fade from one globe to the other would give the new flagship map a little pizzazz.

Must say, an excellent map... Im sure will be the most popular map by far.
If it is to replace clasic shapes, as seems certain. Will there be abbreviations in the drop down box for all the territories? The reason for the question is because. We will be using this instead of classic shapes in society of the cooks, and would you want to have to spell out all these place names when instructing students? instead of A1, F4, S2 etc.... Maybe NY, for New York obviously. But JOH for Johannesburg. SAO for Sao Paulo.

Still don't understand why you don't drop classic art - it has less players than shapes when compared over the same time period since art was created.

Could`nt agree more. If you had a poll on which map was prefered of the 2, Im sure shapes would win hands down.

so looking at this map, the 2 things that bug me the most is seeing some nothing cities in North East Asia... while at the same time we are missing Seoul (and Shanghai). So I've been racking my brain trying to find a way...

and now... i think, just maybe, it could happen...

If the connection to Anchorage goes direct to Seoul, then Tokyo and Beijing could be "directly connected" to Seoul...
Directly connected, as in no lines...

And there would be only 1 line coming off Tokyo (to Hong Kong),
and only 1 line coming off Seoul (heading to Shanghai perhaps)
and Beijing would have just 2 lines, one to Shanghai, the other to Novosibirsk

EDIT:
Those connections sounded complicated...
Here it is said another way:

Magadan ----Becomes----> Seoul
Tokyo ----Remains----> Tokyo
Yakutsk ----Becomes----> Beijing
Beijing ----Becomes----> Shanghai

The key to this working is to have those 3 cities touching...
Now i know this has been avoided elsewhere on the map, but it seems very appropriate for these 3 mega cities that are geographically close, to be close on this map as well... perhaps they will have tiny lines, or perhaps they will actually touch... if need be, a tiny explanation could now fit in the vast emptiness of world known as north east asia.

Or best, they could spin. That would be easy by using a GIF image. And I like the idea of having the signature wink.

The gameplay cannot be changed. Those cities are needed in Northeast Asia.

As you have no part of New Zealand on the map, maybe instead of cutting off most the country you could just remove it all together from the map, if i remember correctly there is a similar board game out there that until the last version didn't have the islands of New Zealand on it at all.. yeah, i'd rather none of it than half of it.

Obvoiusly unfinished, but I'm not making the map. If I had spare time I would've done it with the latitude and longitude lines in.

I'm not suggesting to change the gameplay...
truly, i am the last person who would want to do that...

I'm just changing some city names, and where they are on the map...

But the gameplay is exactly the same...

I defintitely prefer the graphical representation of the bonuses rather than the basic list
I also agree that the globes cause some cluttering
why not use a flattened globe as seen in any Atlas

Here is about the most basic representation that I could knock up apologies but I only had a few minutes to throw this together

Obviously You can make a version that matches the style of the map more and is 1 million % clearer :!:

I love this version. I think it's much better to look at. The subtle references to classic are great. I love the bonus list, and the title looks cool also. Really, it all looks good to me - the only thing out of place is your sully monster face signature. You really should put your name there instead.

since gameplay is the only thing being re-done, and game play won't change in the least, it should be set up now, to get rid of the crappy shapes...

Hooray for classic!
It would seem that some lines aren't wider or thicker than others its just some lines have a backshadow while others dont.

Oh, that would be terrific. Is it feasible? What's the best quality you can get out of a GIF?

I really like the progress so far! =D>

I like the jets, but if you replace them how about putting something with the Conquer Club star in there? Or even a compass in the ocean à la original Classic, but with the CC star instead of a skull?

I am fine with either a text legend or globe legends. If it doesn't clutter the artwork, I'd prefer to call the continents names like "African Cities" instead of "Africa" to distance Classic from other popular global domination game boards.

k - i'm not a student of history, (in fact, i don't even have any history classes in my college curriculum, and never payed much attention in high school) and i'm not so talented at geography, so i won't comment on which cities should be included

I just wanted to say i like the look of the map. The main reason i commented was because i saw a lot of "I don't like the jets" posts (or posts which simply made light sarcastic comments about aircraft playing chicken, which i may have mistakenly interpreted as such) on pages 8 and 9. I just wanted to say i think the jets are absolutely sweet and i'm by far in favor of keeping them. If my opinion is outweighed by others, though, i would recommend putting the word classic in a white, militaristic looking font, over the CC emblem. This would mark the map as the site symbol and i think that's what you guys want out of classic, right? but still, the jets are cooler.... 8-)

Personally, i note the debate between classic shapes and art being replaced, and i have to point out that the society of cooks relies on classic shapes for their mentoring purposes so i would recommend that that map not be eliminated. Classic art, on the other hand... :roll:

Also, i really liked the idea of an atlantic split map. Not saying that you should put a second world cities map out along with this one, that would be redundant. But maybe someone should think about doing a map to include the atlantic split?

Anyway, good luck.

The flags on the new classic map are AWESOME! makes the map look better than all the other maps on here... a true classic map from the 30's or 40's I love it. A Real Classic Map. ..and the city scape design rocks!
