Requesting premium membership, clans and other stuff...

Postby Leehar on Wed May 12, 2010 10:55 am

Hi guys, I pm'd Andy about this and he said it was ok if I posted this here, but I have read JC's 'Welcome to callouts' thread so if he feels he wants to move it he can.

Basically, I'd just like to request premium membership. I remember seeing another thread for, I think Godsav1 and JoshyBoy, about 6 months to a year ago, where they mentioned they'd like premium, and I mentioned it there, but I believe it wasn't really the best time then.
Obviously with premium, they've gone on to do pretty well, with JB becoming a Suggestions mod, and Gs getting to captain after playing about 5k games. I hope that with premium I can be as influential or even more of an active member of the CC community.

But firstly, onto the reasons why I'm requesting premium in the first place. Basically I'm the normal teenager who doesn't have a cent to his name. My parents already hate that I play so many games, I don't think they'd ever consider forking out for one.
And why I'm deserving of being given premium? Well, I'd be eternally grateful, which is a given. I'd do my utmost to help whoever gives me premium. The fact that I've reached Lieutenant and have been capable of staying there despite some bad game choices should definitely be a plus.
However, I just feel that freemium is restricting me a bit too much. I can hardly play large team or 8 player games, This is the same reason why I haven't be able to join many tournaments or any clans. Even in Medal Heads, while I've reached the top of their 1v1 division, I haven't been able to participate in all the activities. And obviously I still need to get more medals which are a lot harder to come by as a freemium. I've played for almost a year showing, and also proving to myself, that I have the ability to make the most of becoming freemium, and because I have an 2-3 month 'holiday' waiting ahead of me which being freemium will let me take good advantage of.

I still have a bit more to say, but I think I'll leave it here for now. If there are any questions, or any help anyone can give helping me attract people to want make me premium, I'd appreciate it.

I thank you for the mention. You forgot to say that I'm maintaining a steady Lieutenant rank. I got my premium myself in the end of it, as nobody here really likes me. ;) Good luck with getting premium, I get paid next Friday I'll see if i've got a spare $25. Also, have a look at the tournaments section, as some tournaments offer a premium prize.

Cheers, JB ;)

Lol, I thought that was a given.
I appreciate it, hopefully I can get premium a bit earlier tho ;)
I actually just thought I'd be more proactive and try get (someone to get me) premium, instead of just lazing round hoping for it to fall in my lap, since it hasn't worked yet ;)

And yeah, I am actually in quite a few tourneys - more than the amount of slots open - so I'm basically just juggling games for them, since luckily they don't usually start at the same time. But it's another reason for me wanting premium, since it does get a bit troublesome. And in the times when there are no tourneys ongoing, I still have to keep slots open for the tourney to start so sometimes I can't play any games at all.
And unfortunately, I haven't really seen that many premium tourneys that I could join either.

Otherwise, some more information about me, for people wanting to give me premium, or willing to offer me a clan, while I'm no world-beater, or conqueror for that matter, I have beaten some relatively good players, and I 'm sure I have the ability to beat a few more. Also, while I did recently lose a quad game to Bogan and his crew, which I was pretty bummed about, I am pretty good at team games, and am usually the most active communicator (talkative) in team games. Unfortunately, I rarely get to play as many team games as I'd like to since, they usually take some time to complete, and so I have to usually stay in 1v1's...

Also, Jake also asked me in chat if I don't have a job, so it'll be good to tell everyone some more about me still studying in Uni and that there really isn't much of a part-time job industry here in SA so it's difficult to earn any sort of money. So I am pretty heavily dependent on my parents, and since I don't even get pocket money, it's not like I can save that way either... :(

Ps It's interesting to see that there have been more than 100 views, but only 1 reply ;) - and probably out of there quite a lot would be mine ')
C'mon, post people, I'd really appreciate the comments even if there are only Good Luck wishes, and possibly offering suggestions about what clans/tournies are good to apply for where I could meet people and show myself as being more deserving of premium etc. (hope those would be ok with you as well JC)

Best of luck with this. Ive had three years of premium and never had to pay for it either :D Twice gifted and won a tournament for the other, that would be a good recommendation as JB listed. Might also want to show some initiative to getting into a clan background, send some requests in the create/join clan forum. It looks alot better when you show interest than if clans have to come find you. Relationships with clan members would also increase your chance of getting gifted premium, at least in my experiences... ;)

And bravo for not going into the complete groveling and begging phase that most do when looking for a handout.

Well thanks Leehar. I was having a great day until I just realized I have to scrounge up $25 bucks by next Thursday :x

That's all I have to add, other than if someone bought it for me I would be most grateful. Please buy for Leehar first though, everyone should get a chance at premium if they want it and can't afford it themselves.

Lol, nice, Yeah, I am always out on the lookout for tournies, think clappy's mixed dubs is the only one offering at the moment, and it's full now.

Yeah, I have looked around at the different clans, But also need to be realistic, don't think I have the credentials to really join a top tier clan. I do know some clans I know people in (remember that from a topic where that was recommended about joining clans) like Nemesis etc, and I have thought of joining, but I feel that I can't really offer much to the clan as a freemium as I would like to (on top of joining tournies with possible premium prizes, and joining team games where people might like me, and not forgetting the part where I actually still join games just for the fun of it without all these other agendas ;) )

lol, Thanks, being around for so long (even if I haven't been active enough for many people to notice me ;)) has let me see the reaction it gets, and how I myself feel when seeing those. So I just decided to be as honest, upfront and straightforward as possible and hopefully my request will be looked at as favourably as possible.

You changed right there ;)

You underlined it, so it wasn't too hard to pick out once I was looking for it :D

I hope someone buys you premium.. You seem like you would be an active member of the community!

I would like to drop a line and say that Lehaar was one of the first people on CC that was friendly to a little swedish noob a year ago and even played a couple of doubles games with me when i asked, as I ofc lacked a partner and didn't want to impose my noobness on some poor random fella at the time :P

He's an alround friendly and active guy, a real gentlemen and I couldn't think of anyone more deserving of a little charity from somone more blessed economically in life =)

I'd do so myself, but truth be told I can't even afford premium myself in my unemployed state and was fortunate enough to meet a few guys that liked me enough to buy premium for me jsut for the pleasure of playing speed games with me. I really hope Lehaar finds somone as generous too, he is an asset to the CC community.

So it looks like I've been given premium by an individual who would rather not have that fact known (for obvious reasons).
Thanks to everyone that posted, and I really appreciate all of it!
(I think one of the mods can close this now if they want)

And for those who'd like to play me now that I have premium:

Since this is in archives, maybe make a new topic in callouts? Doubt the mods would bring this topic back
