Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way. Check out the solo using a talk-box @ 3:10

...and, for classical aficionados, John Williams playing Asturias by Isaac AlbƩniz. I could listen to John Williams all day, I'd even go so far as to say he is the best guitarist alive today.

Definitely approve. Comfortably is one of the greatest solos. It's so God damn simple yet so amazing.

Admittedly, I only have Europa and Black Magic Woman on my iPod, but he's great.

Hahahaha, the name doesn't ring a bell.I had to look him up. Apparently he's the RHCP guitarist. He's good...but I'm not sure about his solo ability...={

Awesome. You just gained my respect. SRV is the man, and Maiden is my favorite band. I'm quite amazed that you knew Phantom, most Americans don't know any of their stuff, let alone early songs. Kudos to you sir. btw Pantera is always great as well. Dimebag Darrell really was one of the greatest guitarists, to affect electric guitar playing as much as he did that late in the game.

I'm gonna say Emerald- Thin Lizzy

Haha, I'll admit I didn't know SVR for a long time and Maiden was my favorite band for a little bit, but I didn't know them until I played Guitar Hero. Phantom of the Opera is by far my favorite song by them. And their bassist is the best of any bands imo. I love it. And Pantera is so great, it's ridiculous. They don't get nearly as much credit as they deserve.

Here's some more..I'll try to keep the genres and guitar styles changing.

Joe Satriani - Surfing with the Alien

The Middle - Jimmy Eat World

That reminded me of this:

BTW, listen to it a bit. It really is The Beatles just jamming. McCartney can sing.

Guitar Solos?

I saw Rik Emmett a few years ago.

Okay...a little Rik for ya: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGalRRX0CXk

I saw Alvin Lee a few times in the 1980's.

How about Alvin? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LFpfureaCVs

Not to be confused with Albert. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0uDaEuKzXLw

I saw SRV mentioned a few times. I was about 15 feet away from him for an entire concert in about 1982. I don't think I blinked the entire show. Unbelievable. Such a lose of talent.

Blues Deluxe- by Joe Bonamassa

If any of you have never heard of Joe Bonamassa, please do. He's a god. He plays better than just about anyone.

Eric Johnson... Cliffs of Dover

Opening is a solo, the song is not a sole but 100% instrumental. It rocks.

Pink Floyd- Comfortably numb 4.33-6.22
Metallica- Master of puppets 3.32-4.48
Led Zeppelin- Dazed and confused 3.35-4.58
Deep Purple- Child in time 3.33-6.05
Pantera- Cemetary gates 4.53-5.34
System of a down- Psycho 2.37-3.40
Guns n Roses- November rain 3.57-4.44

The best genre for solos is obviously melodeath, death, thrash etc etc but that's obviously an acquired taste so I didn't include any.

yes pink floyd, ahh the best of all time

That was awesome.

I also liked him in the later days of his career when he was on Taxi.
