Not sure who is at fault here. I often find situations like this result from a lack of communication. Whenever I start a new relationship I personally try to lay down some ground rules with my partner. Also try to establish a "safe word" with my partner. of course it's visible. it's just a matter of choosing the right equipment to photograph it with. you could even zoom enough to see the people on the wall and what clothes they wear.

if we're talking about seeing it with the naked eye then the answer is still yes. you can see it from the iss without the use of any cameras, telescopes etc. of course a clear sky will help and you'll need lots of concentration because only minuscule parts of it are visible.
