Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs
It's been quite a series. You can't say the Cards haven't fought for it. C'mon Cards, 11 in '11!

I just don't see how LaRussa wouldn't start Carpenter tomorrow.

Another great game in a great series. One game remains to take it all
and just like the Cards... I expect the Rangers to respond.

I'm not sure if it was based on facts or not but I did catch something on ESPN about him starting. I'm not sure if it will be a mistake or not. He did have the extra day because of rain but it's still a short rest. On the other hand he is their go to guy so who else would you really want to entrust this to? I'll trust La Russa's judgment. I can't blame him for what happened with the bullpen mix up and he, his staff and the players showed that they've prepared well for this series overall and how they've fought for it.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs
There are a possible 41 postseason games in baseball. The 2011 postseason will play 38 of those games. What a great postseason of baseball!! Add to that the drama of the last day(s) of the regular season, and it's even better.

I think that's true of both these teams. I wanted the Rangers finish it last night, but it's been such a great series I also kind of wanted a Game 7. This has been the best World Series match up to occur in a really long time.

I'm not really sure about the bullpen thing, but I heard Pujols called his own hit and run on that awful stolen base so I forgive LaRussa there if it's true. And as good as a hitter Pujols is, that was a very stupid play for him to not swing the bat to protect the baserunner, ESPECIALLY if he called it.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs
We have come to expect too much of Pujols.
Specially this season, when many of us thought he'll put up a monster of a season so that the cardenals would have to pay him with the stadium or something like that.
All in all, the guy doesn't shy away, he takes responsibility and tries to carry the team on his shoulders.
About LaRusa, he has done a few mistakes but he's not afraid of trying to manage every single time he has to, and I'm pretty sure his good calls have been much much more frequent. Some say he overmanages, and probably sometimes he does, but I also believe that his knowledge keep all of his players in the game in every single pitch and they all know how to execute a lot of plays that make 'em better players. I liked Tito's style in Boston but sometimes I begged for a bunt or a hit and run. Most likely the reason the hit and run was not tried was because Tito knew some players wouldn't execute it right because of lack of practice.
About last night. Wow. I was speechless not knowing what to think. What a great game, I don't remember another game like that one, and I got to watch it complete
They say it was badly played in the first innings but that made it even better, more exciting.
After last night, whatever they give us is good I think. I don't know who's gonna start for St. Louis but I'd go with Lohse, and have Carpenter ready. The same with Texas, start with Harrison but have CJ Wilson ready.

Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs
Did anyone hear about how LaRussa's daughter tweeted "why did they let a crackhead into the Rangers dugout" or something to that effect during game 5?
Also, I'm rooting for the Rangers, because I just dislike the Cardinals in this series for some reason.

I just read it and the tweet was "I saw a crack head doing 'The Wash' today. Coincidence? I think not...". "The Wash" being the signs or looks or whatever Ron Washington gives to his teams/stuff/idk.
I don't see why anyone gives a shit about this. What a retarded daughter tweets means nothing about LaRussa and it's annoying how people think this is somehow LaRussa's fault. If a kid is over the age of like 10, their actions cannot be put on their parents.

I didn't have a problem with it either. Although I would understand why LaRussa would feel in a tough spot because of his daughter's words. In sports (and life in general) you're supposed to respect those you work with (even though in the case of the WS, you're trying to beat them). It's like if a school principal's daughter called another school principal a crackhead (and he actually used to be one), it's embarrassing because your family is bringing undue negative attention to an aspect of your peer's life that could be discrediting.

No, you're an idiot. They've won 11 World Series, as Arcee said. They've won at least 44 World Series games.

exactly. These fora matured beyond stupid semantics years ago.
Re: MLB 2011 Playoffs
Congrats to the Cards on a great Playoff Run and another Championship. This final game was a bit anti-climactic... compared to the rest of the Series. Rangers had their shot (((twice))) last night and couldn't finish it.

I called the Cardinals in 7!!
Actually, I think the series was won with that Game 6 miracle and was just clinched in Game 7. What a crazy year for the Cardinals.
