Kony 2012

Postby Crazyirishman on Wed Mar 07, 2012 2:20 am

I didnt see anything about this up yet so here's the video:

I know theres good ideas and all in this, but the thing seemed poorly planned out. Raise awareness of dictator- try to get US Government involved- it actually happens- dictator becomes aware of this and runs into jungle where they cant find him. Yes theres a big problem and all those atrocities are bad; I fully agree to all of that but the way of going about was wrong in my opinion. We were aware of Osama for a decade and it still took a decade to get him, so IMO it would have been better to get a strikeforce/special units swat team to get in there and snag him before he figured out people were after him. If he was ranked on top of the UN international court shit list why didnt they send somebody after him? the dude was in uganda, they dont even had radar, that shit coulda been done in less than a week, hell the media probably wouldnt have figured it out until have they already had his ass.

Posting something with a big headline, "____ is a fraud" is kind of prejudicial, isn't it?

People who read the whole thread that you reference will find that the OP's position was thoroughly refuted, but those who don't like to read too far will only remember the headline, "____ is a fraud." I'm not sure if this is what you intend, or an oversight.

I've only seen the first 10 minutes, but so far it seems like I'm watching a hollywood movie trailer. Hit me over the head with emotion, forget the facts, they're not important.
Meh, I can't be bothered to discuss this too much since I predict we'll have some analyses from people more capable than me in a little while, I'd just like to say something about the very first minute of the video, in which the common and currently popular "OMG facebook is awsum" position is taken.

Facebook has a shitload of problems mostly centred around privacy and how it's product is you. Zuckerberg has openly said he wants to all but remove anonymity from the web, which would severely limit the benefits humanity can get from it IMO.

I heard nobody has even seen the guy since 2007 or something? I didn't watch the video but is it true he might already be dead? Is Kony gonna be the new boogy man?

I see your point. That's basically a problem of world government and democracy (generally). The politicians feel like they have to make and sell a case and get consensus to protect their jobs.

I saw a Kony 2012 report on the News last night. Locals feared Kony might come off as heroic in the documentary instead of the "Pawn of Satan" they consider him to be.

I personally feel the the US gov doesnt give a flyin f*ck about the oil in Uganda, I have nothing to based that off of other than there can't be more than 3 billion barrels in reserve, which is less than norway. There's plenty of other bumfuck countries that the US gov could invade to exploit the locals.

There's no need to invade. It's about developing close military ties with COIN training programs and joint military exercises. This is used as leverage against Uganda for more than just oil. It's a future opportunity, which we would be naive to ignore. The Chinese tend to counter by trying to buy large shares in these countries' state-owned or privately owned companies or by developing these countries infrastructures.

The US and China have been developing strong ties with countries across sub-Saharan Africa. This is just one small story of a larger epic.

Beebs is right ... the US doesn't need 3 billion barrels of oil, but it needs to keep China from getting 3 billion barrels of oil.

The U.S. is locked in a war with the PRC being fought across proxies like Libya, Uganda, Iraq, and so forth. The U.S. thinks that strangling China's supply of energy will crash their brittle political system. The same reason Americans are paying $4/gallon for petrol, their government has created a fictional price floor on oil to choke China's oil-dependent economy. Moving troops into Uganda, deep-sixing Canada's Keystone pipeline, banning drilling in Alaska, bombing Libya, those are all ways the price floor can be artificed. Kony, Qaddafi and the environment were all just the public face of those tactics but ultimately irrelevant.

The retail price of petrol in the U.S. moves without any real regard for wars and crises in the Middle East. It is heavily impacted by the current Main Adversary, however (i.e. is the Main Adversary a petrol exporter requiring the price be crashed to destroy their economy [USSR] or are they an importer requiring the price be spiraled to destroy their economy [PRC]).

Kony2012 Campaign Leader Arrested for Jerking Off Onto Cars in San Diego

Jason Russell, 33, was allegedly found masturbating in public, vandalizing cars and possibly under the influence of something, according to Lt. Andra Brown. He was detained at the intersection of Ingraham Street and Riviera Road shortly before noon.

Brown said Russell was acting very strange.

Police said they received several calls yesterday at 11:30 a.m. of a man in various stages of undress, running through traffic and screaming. Police described him as "in his underwear."

"He was no problem for the police department however, during the evaluation we learned that we probably needed to take care of him," said Brown at a press conference. "So officers detained him and transferred him to a local mental health facility."

Russell is one of the the founders responsible for the "Kony 2012" video that went viral last week. He is described on the organization's website as a co-founder and "our grand storyteller and dreamer." Russell is also described as a Christian and father to two children who wants to have nine more children with his wife for a total of eleven children.

Sounds like a sane, rational, well-grounded fellow. I'd probably sign-on to a campaign he organized.

I don't blame him. It's a stressful job which demands the immediate gratification of masturbating in public.

You know, Haggis, it's a matter of basic personal responsibility. Someone could slip and fall in your splooge and accidentally impregnate themselves. So grow up.

Hey, it's not my fault that there's a distinct lack of masturbatoriums in our society. A guy can only hold it in so long.

Well before you know it, it will be illegal to masturbate in the privacy of your home. This is the nature of our political "freedoms." Where did we go wrong?

this is just about the most bizarre thing I've seen in my life and I was a witness to the Roswell crash (FF to the extra-weird part starting at 3:15)

Here's where the money has been going to: Invisible Children founder Jason Russell's vanity dance musical numbers which start off with exploitative footage of suffering children. How did no one else catch this? It makes the Kony 2012 video look subtle and sane. He's basically using this to fund his desire to make Glee. This is where the millions are being spent: vanity musicals.
