All of these being examples of times the US has sent/condoned the sending of troops to stop regimes from killing people in other countries.

The incentives for people to support such wars are different. Here's just one example:

Think about how people would respond to a possible war if (1) they would be drafted, or (2) they would not be drafted. In economics, this type of scenario is called a relative price change. There's a difference in the price, thus a difference in the cost-benefit analysis of each individual wanting to participate in this exchange.

Just wait for Obama to leave. After all, since Obama went to school there, its obeviously a hotbed of terrorist and anti-American sentiment and must be destroyed! (sarcasm alert)

Pretty much. As far as I know, the US is simply pleased with its current relations with Indonesia. They support the war on terror, and whoever they beat down in their own territories doesn't really affect US relations.

What makes you think President Obama would not direct US military intervention in a foreign jurisdiction? Say, for example, Libya or Egypt or Iran?

Indonesia serves as a counter-weight against China, so I don't see why the US would want to unnecessarily threaten military action against Indonesia. If anything, they'd trade them weapons so that their state can retain its power against the evil insurgents/terrorists.

“The question the President posed to me today was how we should maneuver them (Japan) into the position of firing the first shot.” - Secretary of War Stimson, June 1941

"All the President's efforts to cause the Germans to declare war on us failed; the conditions we imposed upon Japan—to get out of China, for example—were so severe that we knew that nation could not accept them." - Vice-Admiral Beatty, May 1958

on December 10, 1941, the German Chancery wrote:He [Roosevelt] moved still closer to war in September 1940 when he transferred fifty American naval destroyers to the British fleet, and in return took control of military bases on British possessions in North and Central America. Future generations will determine the extent to which, along with all this hatred against socialist Germany, the desire to easily and safely take control of the British empire in its hour of disintegration may have also played a role.

As early as December 19, 1939, an American cruiser [the Tuscaloosa] that was inside the security zone maneuvered the [German] passenger liner Columbus into the hands of British warships. As a result, it had to be scuttled. On that same day, US military forces helped in an effort to capture the German merchant ship Arauca. On January 27, 1940, and once again contrary to international law, the US cruiser Trenton reported the movements of the German merchant ships Arauca, La Plata and Wangoni to enemy naval forces.

On April 15, 1939, Roosevelt made his famous appeal to us and Signore Mussolini, which was a mixture of geographical and political ignorance combined with the arrogance of a member of the millionaire class. We were called upon to make declarations and to conclude non-aggression pacts with a number of countries, many of which were not even independent because they had either been annexed or turned into subordinate protectorates by countries allied with Mr. Roosevelt.

Wasn't Indonesia hit by a bunch of tsunamis not too long ago?

I'm sure that killed more people. We should declare war against earthquakes in the Indian Ocean.

There was a fairly small one in 2010.

I think you're getting your Asian countries confused.

The tsunami caused widespread destruction that displaced more than 20,000 people and affected about 4,000 households. 435 people were reported to have been killed, with over 100 more still missing

I guess compared to the one's from last year that hit Japan that's small, but still...

Also, I never screw up my geography man.

This message will be lucky to reach many more people than the plight of the Timorese in the 70's,Indonesia is strategically important to guess who,so all atrocities will be ignored.
