It's not my fault you dicks are pulling my strings.

Army of GOD wrote:yea, if they're writing in supposed pain on the ground, the contact looks more malicious and you're more likely to get the call.
Or it could be like in baseball, where you argue not to change the umpires mind about the call that just happened, but you're arguing for a call to go your way in the future.
I'm not sure how much basketball you watch tgd, but I love Jeff Van Gundy who commentates for ESPN/ABC and is doing all the games for the finals. He thinks blatant floppers should either get a technical foul during the game or a hefty fine afterwards and I agree completely. It's not so bad in hockey, but football should adopt this policy too.

A couple of obvious ones:
- To show highlights of ultimate rugby (union and league) skills (see Benji Marshell pass about midway through) and ignore how skillful soccer can be is a tad stupid
- Many, and I mean MANY of those tackles shown would have resulted in the tackler being sent off the field for foulplay.
I love rugby and its way tougher than soccer, and I hate the way soccer players dive so outrageously, but that clips pretty extreme.

One thing that pisses me off about soccer (and basketball, as well) is how much of a bitch everyone seems to be. Like, I play in a summer soccer league and the other day I defended this guy who possessed the ball inside the 18 (I'm not sure if non-Americans call it something else...it's the bigger goal box) perfectly. After I get it away from him, he complains to the ref "COME ON HE WAS ALL OVER ME".
In rugby and in football, you never get that stupid shit. Ok, maybe you'll get the occasional complainer, but for the most part everyone understands that complaining about contact isn't going to get you anywhere (and the complaints are rarely ever about the contact...it's more about technical penalties).
And that's why I love rugby...I'm a naturally violent person.

Well, short answer, basketball and football are non-contact sports. At least in theory. Peeps will bitch about contact cause it's against the rules.

haha I guess, but still, contact is allowed. If the refs don't call a foul because of the contact, then the contact more than likely wasn't great enough for it to be against the rules.
It's just annoying. Plus, soccer and basketball are riddled with floppers because of the "non-contactness". It's just infuriating.
