You see, Obama has done a lot of dumb shit, but no one really cares.
Then Romney says some dumb shit, and then they're all up in arms about it.

Really? Liberals haven't started threads criticizing Obama?

What does variance mean?

How about "really cares"?

Sorry, I again made the mistake of thinking you wanted a legitimate discussion. I should have known better. I won't make that mistake again.

Aw, Woodruff doesn't like being asked reasonable questions because he may reveal to others that he suffers from a "reading comprehension" problem.

It's okay, Woodruff. There's no need to get upset and toss up the chess board. The community is here for you.

Hey, if you recorded Obama 24/7 without him knowing, I'm sure you'd find all sorts of disturbing things.

The reactions from many to this whole story is absurd though. People are surprised that politicians and political wanna-be's say blunt things to closed groups of people.

"Oh my! Politicians are two-faced!? NO WAY!! Of course, the politician which advertises my worldview certainly isn't like Romney. No no no!"

Most of the people who are in an uproar about this Romney gaffe are naive.

The reality is that in the last couple of days Obamas odds on getting re-elected have hardened to 2/7 , bookmakers are are not renowned for their naivety.

I'm not at all talking about chances of Obama's reelection.

Obamas re-election will be in many ways by default because Romney is appearing unelectable , his gaffes are the reason why , it is in fact naive not to recognise this .

We're talking past each other.

Some people focus on the faults of disliked politicians, yet they fail to level similar criticism against their own favored politicians. I attribute this inconsistency* to people's naive views about politicians/politics in general.

You're talking about a small group of people saying that Romney's campaign is being run poorly. Period. End of their criticism. I'm not saying that those kind of people are naive... because they actually have a good point. I'm talking about those kind of people who criticize Romney about him "shitting on people" and all this uproar about what Romney said ,yet the response against what Obama has actually done is lackluster. What's even funnier is that even though people still criticize Obama, they'll still vote him--regardless of Obama "shitting on people." I guess Obama's shit tastes better than Romney's? Either way, those voters are both shit-eaters.

*(variance, Woodruff, variance. It doesn't follow that some liberals are not at all criticizing Obama because I'm talking about variance. By people "not really caring," I'm talking about people being disingenuous and failing to hold favored politicians to the same standard of criticism).

I'm pretty sure the president and those in his campaign have pretty much said all those things already. I guess I should have used the sarcasm tags.

No worries, TGD. When you said "rich fatcats," I understood your intentions.

I'm still going on my tangent about people's responses. It's not directly leveled at you, which is why I used those double spaces between my first response to you and the later response to the general public.

I wouldn't limit your criticism to liberals (although you haven't). It has become clear, at least since Bush I, that politics involve increasingly more rhetoric and gaffes and "electability" than problem-solving or constructive criticism. I'm not sure who to blame(inb4 "I blame Democrats" or "I blame Republicans"), but it's clearly a problem when the concentration becomes "where is the president's birth certificate / where are Romney's tax returns" and "Obama is socialist / Romney is a rich fatcat" and the concentration is not on "why are we here in the first place and what can we do to fix it."

This problem annoys me, and I can't think of any solutions.

So I made a new thread!

It's just funny that we rip Phatscotty for calling Obama a socialist. Perhaps we should rip the liberals in this thread for calling Romney a rich fatcat who hates 47% of the country. I don't know.

Now in all fairness he didn't say he "hates" 47% of the country, he merely said he doesn't worry about them.

Does he say he doesn't care about them? He even says he understands how that happens when all the jobs go away and people get a bunch of empty promises of progress. That's empathy, so like the exact opposite of Romney's statement. Also, it's not money it's antipathy towards people who aren't like them, though I like the Warren Zevon shoutout.

It wasn't the beginning of a legitimate discussion, but it was certainly a legitimate response within the discussion.

Of course I didn't understand his post...that MUST be it. Interesting that you believe I have an issue with someone criticizing my understanding of anything. Surprising even, coming from you, though I suppose your affinity for BigBallinStalin's typical positions overrides your ability to view the situation with clarity. I would even suggest that he has more of a problem with someone criticizing him, but hey, that's ok. Like I said, I should have known better. I do now. No biggie.

It seems that asking you questions has proven ineffective with you, Woodruff, but I can't understand you when you don't explain how you interpret something.

You see, when you answer the questions, it's to illuminate to others what your line of reasoning actually was. Then others are capable of showing you where you got something wrong, or where the OP got something wrong. But if you don't answer the very simple questions, then why would anyone take you seriously?

I hate to subsidize one's childishness, but maybe this helps?

Amazing what passes as a "scandal" when it involves Romney. Meanwhile, the Obama Administration has been lying or hiding the truth about everything that has happened in the past 10 days yet are given a complete pass on all of it. It's time to focus on the reality of what's happening all over the world and in our own government instead of all these fake scandals of Romney.

I am dissatisfied with my provincial and federal governments, and I am not sure the opposition are any better, but I don't think it is all some nefarious plot by the current ruling crooks. It's not the media generating fake scandals. I think the system has created the mess we are all in today and I think there are 2 things at the root of it all. Corporations and greed. The politicians try to keep the jobs and the wealth in their spheres of influence, but the corporations are so large, they are gobbling up the wealth of the populace and more and more people are falling by the wayside becoming the working poor. With less disposable income, the corporations need to maintain the growth so have to charge more to a smaller available populace with disposable income, and the cycle repeats. The politicians are just servants of the system, as we all are. Mind you many of them actually do all they can to hasten the pace of the inevitable.

Yup, you guessed it, Google will own all.

Huh, a fringe belief that even the Romney campaign haven't argued. So, if Romney says he said it and it's authentic, and everyone else says it's authentic, but you don't think it's authentic, you're on a bit of limb here Scotty.

If Romney said it's authentic himself, you'd have to present some pretty convincing evidence to the contrary, Phatscotty. I'd love to see such evidence, surely you can point me in the direction of the person, newspaper, TV station or blog or whatever that unearthed it.

WOW!!!! REALLY PHATSCOTTY?

I seem to recall someone posting a thread about how the Romney campaign cheated in Maine during the primary. About how Ron Paul was supposed to win but the filthy rich Romney campaign rigged the election in his favor?

But now, that Ron Paul isn't in the election Romney's your guy and a good stand up citizen. Now he's the straight man and Obama's the cheater right?

I'm just trying to get this straight. So whoever your candidate is at the time that he is your candidate, is incapable of fallibility and is the constant victim of cheating.

Also, what does it even mean to claim that a video isn't authentic when Romney himself confirmed that he was there, that he was him in the video, and that he DID say those things?!?!??!?!

Romney's 47% 'Clean-Up' Press Conference

I find your level of cognitive dissonance to be truly astounding.
