Average Rank of Off Topics Posters

Postby thegreekdog on Wed Nov 07, 2012 4:02 pm

I've noticed there are a lot of colonels, majors, etc. in the off-topic poster ranks (the regularly active posters anyway).

I wonder if there is some correlation between being good at the game and being an off-topics regular?

Asks the private first class (who was once a captain).

I would imagine it would have more to do with overall gameload. My thoughts, less games=more likely to post here.

Someone(not it) needs to compile the data. It's an interesting question.
On a side note, I myself have noticed a pattern in some individuals respecting the opinions of higher ranked individuals in off topic over low ranked users or at least being more reluctant to challenge them for this reason. If this is a real correlation I find it completely irrational and IMHO, pathetic.

Actually, probably the opposite. Those waiting for games, playing a lot of non speed games come here and post in "between".

I can say for myself that I come to the forums mainly due to inactivity in my current games. I am just one example but it's a start. I'm not sure if I apply though as I usually teeter between Major and Colonel.

My activity in the forums mainly has to do with my interest in the current topics. If I am not interested I post less. As for my rank, well it tends to go up when I have more free time.

I do. But I'm not proving it. My theory is that higher ranked players spend more time on the site, generally, and therefore spend more time in the forums.

But that would be about the rank in the particular moment the user got interested in OT.

It's well known that it was your brother who took your account to Major, when he stopped helping you you obviously dropped rank.

I think you are right, when a player spends a lot of time around playing games they browse around the site and the forums and if they read a bit the OT forums and if they find it fun, interesting they become a lurker and later a poster. But some eventually lose interest in their rank and spent most of their time a the forums.

In ways too disturbing to contemplate.

In the old days we had laptops. Now I supposed you can play C*C on an ipad in the privy of your own home. :)
