The shooting in Connecticut

Postby whitestazn88 on Fri Dec 14, 2012 6:02 pm

I was going to make a troll thread. It was going to say "this was god's punishment to america for allowing the gays to marry etc etc etc" but then I realized, you don't joke about someone killing kids. It's just disgusting. I hope anyone who thought about politicizing this thinks again, because it's really about a terrible tragedy and the families affected. Think about those who have been hurt, and think about your loved ones.

that's all I got.

From what I've heard he was mentally ill with personality issues but I have not heard specifics from the news.

That being said there are very few things in the world worse than the killing of innocents who cannot defend themselves. I offer my most sincere condolences to any and everyone affected by this horrible tragedy. That includes the shooter and his family. What he did was unforgivable and horrible. A large part of me wishes that he rots in hell but even so we cannot forget that he despite everything he did is still a person, a horribly ill person but still a person.

I can't enforce this as it is technically not against the rules, but there is already a thread dealing with the gun related issue of what happened. If possible I would prefer that this thread be kept as one to offer condolences to the families that have been torn apart by this tragedy.

whitestazn88, first of all, I don't know why you think your first idea for a thread would be trolling. If that's what you think and wish to share it and hear what everyone else thinks, that's merely discussion, not trolling.

Also, what if it turns out this Adam fuckwit was a member of the Tea Party? What then?

I'm sure saxi can back me up on this one, but I'm sure Obama is responsible for more children's deaths throughout the world than this guy ever could be.

I don't understand why we hold our breath in silence for a tragedy like this but can't give a shit about deaths around the world.

There were 52,447 deliberate and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries in the United States during 2000.[4] The majority of gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides,[5] with 17,352 (55.6%) of the total 31,224 firearm-related deaths in 2007 due to suicide, while 12,632 (40.5%) were homicide deaths.[6] In 2009, according to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, 60% of all homicides in the United States were perpetrated using a firearm.[7]

Or even the other 40+ per day in the US alone.

You don't want to know...

I personally think this shooting is a product of moral decline in the USA.

that, and a breakdown in the culture that is lack of values, a society that does not teach about the sanctity of life, and is shielded from "thou shall not murder", and is unable to teach people right from wrong

You fucking idiots turning this into a political debate. Think of all these poor parents and families going home to look at presents under Christmas trees which will never be opened, and which I'm sure in many cases will be looked at by grieving family members for years and years to come.

Shame on the whole fucking lot of you. Take your statistics and your usual stupid, boring and meaningless political debates and shove them up your asses.

Grow a heart for these people, or if you can't do that just do the right thing and SHUT THE f*ck UP.

I feel for these people as much as anyone but you create the circumstances for this and future tragedies if you don't have debate followed by legislation aimed at preventing them, wringing your hands helps no-one.

I'm not downplaying the loss of human life, I just think it's somewhat important to reflect on the reason this sort of thing has been increasing in frequency to try and prevent it from happening again.
