I've restricted myself to one or two off-topic threads in the past few days and I've noticed a decrease in activity. What does this evidence suggest?

Well, in any given day you account for about 20% of the posts. Quantity doesn't mean Quality.

It's also true that the PS has stopped provoking people. pimpdave might have also been warned about his tea party threads. I've been very busy up until last night. AoG dissapears often, tgd doesn't wear pants anymore, Mets havev been silent, haven't seen Greecepwsn, Symmetry is having a bout of sensitivity.

There have always been times when Off Topics gets a bit silent.

Only when saxi or BBS disappear you start to notice a lack of activity directly related to their absence.

That's why in summer of 2010 when saxi got herpes and BBS was arrested, we had an emergency situation here.

When it went from below Flame Wars to above? Or was there another change?

I don't remember now. I'm thinking they moved it more than once now that you mention it being above Flame wars. Where's Andy, maybe he remembers.

I think one of the times they didn't change the name and I'm not sure but the time you're talking about it went from the last forum and might be the one that was tough to work with. Because it was right on the bottom then they moved it and you had to read them to see which one it was.
