I remember.

Worst thing I did to my teenage daughter when she was out of line, was threaten to remove her bedroom door. Never had to actually do it, just the fear of no door made her get back in line.

Surely in that scenario you would have to use guns to kill the agents of the tyrannical government(as if citizens could successfully prevent any such thing, but thats another thread),thus defeating the premise of this thread,'things guns can be used for OTHER than killing'.
By the way your inability to grasp such a simple idea goes a long way to explaining your wacky creationist views...

No Chang. I see an armed citizenry as means of preventing the government from enacting such a thing to start with. Even though gun control came about before Hitler came to power, at least the Jews and other groups would have had the dignity and right to defend themselves instead of being herded like sheep to the slaughter. Once again, Chang, it is a preventative measure.

Also, you can't seem to stay on topic. Instead of the fairy tale of an explosion billions and billions of years ago that later spontaneously generated life in a bowl soup from dead matter which randomly produced the millions of species of animals, flowers and trees around us which is taught as fact, I believe it is much easier to believe "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1

And millions of Christians believe Genesis 1;1 is compatible with the big bang theory, abiogenesis, and the theory of evolution,as an allegory that does not literally describe exactly how God 'created'.

Yeah, I mean remember how the fear of gun owners stopped the government from relocating 70,000 US citizens to internment camps during WW2 ?

There was fear of a full scale attack on the American west coast when that took place. There were also thousands of German Americans treated the same way. Even though Roosevelt was plain wrong in what he did, it was a time of war and great concern especially after Pearl Harbor. They were nothing like the death camps of Europe so don't even go there.

Agreed they weren't like the death camps in Europe. They didn't take crush many lives. Just a lot of spirits. And liberties.

The figure is 100,000. Many whites on the west coast hated the Japanese. Any resistance would of proved futile. When being moved to the camps, families were given as little as 48 hours to pack and try to rent or sell their homes and businesses. Many were taken advantage of, and paid ridiculously low sums for their possessions. In the end, many had to simply abandon their homes. When being relocated, it was not uncommon for families to be separated, whether accidentally or intentionally.

In the camps, conditions were not good. The internees slept in crowded barracks; in fact, nearly all aspects of the camps were crowded. There were communal areas for everything from washing clothes to eating meals, and privacy was usually not an option. Though the conditions for the internees were not nearly as bad as those in Nazi concentration camps, some still died because of unsatisfactory medical care. The camps themselves were usually located in rural areas. Though the internees were supposedly "guests," armed guards were located all around, and troublemakers or those who failed to swear loyalty to the US were sent to Tula Lake camp, eventually called a "Segregation Center." In 1944, internees were finally allowed to return home. However, many no longer had anything to return to, as their property had been sold off or looted in their absence. Even many previously successful business owners were left with nothing, as their businesses had been bought, with no one tending to them. The Japanese Internment camps of WWII are not something America is proud of, and formal apologies and reparations have been issued over the years. Some have chosen to forgive; others, in the years following WWII, chose to return home to Japan. Whether good or bad, the memory of the American "Concentration Camps" lives on.

Less than 1% of the Japanese population of Hawaii were interned. Japanese comprised 1/3 of the total population of Hawaii.http://www.hawaiiinternment.org/history-of-internment
