Part 1: Introduction (Updated) wrote:Here's an explanation. It is a bit on the complex side and the mod has plenty of duties to perform.

Foramt
-The game is run by a mod and is played in a bracket (usually 16 or 32 but I've seen other ways).

Deciding Pokemon
-To keep things simpler, only the original 150 Pokemon are used.

-Every player pm's the mod about what their specialty for their 6 pokemon would be. They choose two main types of pokemon they want (with an optional third). They also have to choose which stats (Weakness, Resistance, HP, Defense, and Speed and Attack) they want to be better at.
Example:
Type Choices: Thunder and Fighting
Stat importance: 1. Speed 2. Attack 3. Defense 4. HP

-The mod sends back the players Pokemon. The way they send is explained later.

Stats
-Every Pokemon has ratings for HP (Rated 10-100 on multiples of 10 like the card game), Defense (1-10) and Speed (rated 1-10).

-Every pokemon has 4 attacks.

-Every attack has two stats: Power (how much damage the move does: a rating from 1-15) and Accuracy (% chance a move will hit.)

Part 2 to come later. Any thoughts so far?

Part 2

Added to Format section of Part 1

-The first post of the forum has the league standings or bracket and a schedule, and the second is reserved for battle status and will be updated and edited throughout the game (This includes but is not limited to: Current Pokemon and HP, Pokemon left for each player (without names unless the pokemon has appeared in battle, and Attack History [attacks used, damage done for each turn, status changes]). An example of the second post will be shown later.

Added to the Deciding Pokemon section of Part 1:

-The mod sends back the players Pokemon. An example of this message

Pikachu
Type: Thunder
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: None
Attacks
Tackle: 20 Power, 90% accuracy
Thunder Wave: Paralyzes the opposing pokemon 50% accuracy
Growl: Lowers opponents defense by .5
Tail Whip: Lowers opponents attack power for every attack by 5

The Battle
-Each player pm's the mod which pokemon will start. The mod then updated the second post.

-Players pm which attack they will use, or they can opt to change Pokemon. The pokemon with higher speed does its attack first. Damage is calculated like this: 2.5 x (Attack power- 1/2 of Defense rating)= Damage (rounded to nearest 10 multiple of 10) So if the attack power is 12 and the defense of the pokemon is 3, 12-1.5=10.5x2.5=26.25. 30 damage is done to the defending pokemon.

-Weakness: if a pokemon's type is weak to the other pokemon's type, double the damage is applied. A chart to show this will be in Part 3

-Resistance: if a pokemons's type is resistant to the other pokemon's type, damage is reduced by 30. A chart to show this will be in Part 3.

-This is repeated until a pokemon faints. The game ends when all 6 pokemon faint.

Any thoughts? What should be changed?

yes they are poke'mon names one is a cameleon (kecleon) the other is a starter poke'mon for rtuby and saphire (treeco) he evloves into grovile and even Sceptile (oddly enough like R_eptile). They however are not pichu (tiny mouse), pikachu (twinkle mouse) or Raichu (I think Ray mouse but I'm likely wrong), nor is it of the Maril family (pikablu for those who had it in the geto version (never existed by the way). THos are Azurill Marill and Azumarill.

Rofl.

Basicly, your resistance/weakness pattern is almost the exact same thing with cards, the double damage and -30 is very true. With some exception.

Psychic/psychic weakness is true in a way. Physic pokemons are weak to ghost attacks actually, bit ghost pokemons are labeled psychic in the card game. If you follow the real game, this weakness is untrue.

For ghost pokemons, they are resistant to psychic. Card games, they aren't, but neither are resistant. Psychic stays a normal attack in the card game against those. In most cases at least. In the real game, they are weak to psychic attack, well the first ones were. Not because they were ghost, because they were ghost/poison. Poison beeing weak to psychic.

The rest..well ok that works.

Wow...I honestly did not know that.

So wait, the card game has 3 types in one like this? You sorta lost me here.

Not quite. Poison/ghost aren't real types in the card game. But resistance/weaknesses still take those in consideration. Basicly, ''gengar'' would be labelled a psychic pokemon, but would ahve res and weaknesses according to poison/ghost. In fact, gengar has no weaknesses ( which should have been in the first games, they had both their weaknesses and resistance at once ) and is resistant to fighting (true for poison if I remember)

Though, normally they should be TOTALLY unafected by normal attacks..

ur missing some types in both the ccg and video game.

The CCG alos includes Dark and Steel as an ex dark houndoon and Tyranatar Steel has Skarmory and Steelix.

For the Vid game there are a masive amount of types.
Normal
fire
Water
Electric
Grass
Ice
Fighting
Poison
Ground
Flying
Psychic
Bug
Rock
Ghost
Dragon
Dark
Steel

which makes the total to 16

Again I did not make this up so if you can think of the weakness and resistance of each I can do that. Also Dark and Steel were not from the original 150 pokemon. I'm also trying to keep this from getting too complex.

Greece never implied dark and steel.

I have a dark-based card game deck. I know what Dark is.

Dark is resistant to psychic in the card game, I don't know for the video games.

Steel is weakness lightning fire, and resistant to grass. I think.

I can add them, but I need definite answers for their weakness and resistance. Same for these (if people want them):

Ice
Poison
Ground (why is there Ground and Rock anyway? Aren't they the same?)
Bug
Ghost
Dragon

in the vid Dark is weak to fighting and bug, strong aginst ghost and dark. Psychic has no effect.

and your right is wasn't in the origional 150 untill fire red and leaf green came out. then magnamite became a steel poke'mon in the first 150. however magnamite and his evolved version were steel in ruby, saphire and emerald. I think they were steel/electric in gold, silver and crystal, but I'm not sure
