WOOT!

Part 1: Introduction (Updated) wrote:Here's an explanation. It is a bit on the complex side and the mod has plenty of duties to perform.
Foramt
-The game is run by a mod and is played in a bracket (usually 16 or 32 but I've seen other ways).
Deciding Pokemon
-To keep things simpler, only the original 150 Pokemon are used.
-Every player pm's the mod about what their specialty for their 6 pokemon would be. They choose two main types of pokemon they want (with an optional third). They also have to choose which stats (Weakness, Resistance, HP, Defense, and Speed and Attack) they want to be better at.
Example:
Type Choices: Thunder and Fighting
Stat importance: 1. Speed 2. Attack 3. Defense 4. HP
-The mod sends back the players Pokemon. The way they send is explained later.
Stats
-Every Pokemon has ratings for HP (Rated 10-100 on multiples of 10 like the card game), Defense (1-10) and Speed (rated 1-10).
-Every pokemon has 4 attacks.
-Every attack has two stats: Power (how much damage the move does: a rating from 1-15) and Accuracy (% chance a move will hit.)
Part 2 to come later. Any thoughts so far?

Part 2
Added to Format section of Part 1
-The first post of the forum has the league standings or bracket and a schedule, and the second is reserved for battle status and will be updated and edited throughout the game (This includes but is not limited to: Current Pokemon and HP, Pokemon left for each player (without names unless the pokemon has appeared in battle, and Attack History [attacks used, damage done for each turn, status changes]). An example:
GreecePwns
Pokemon: Pikachu (50/50) Onyx (70/100) ??? ??? ???
Current Pokemon
Pikachu (50/50)
Fircoal
Pokemon: Charmander (20/60) Scyther (90/90) ??? ??? ??? ???
Moves history
1. Scyther switched out for Charmander; Pikachu uses Tackle (20 Damage)
2. Pikachu switched out for Onyx; Charmander uses Flamethrower (30 Damage)
Added to the Deciding Pokemon section of Part 1:
-The mod sends back the players Pokemon. An example of this message:
Pikachu
Type: Thunder
Weakness: Fighting
Resistance: None
Attacks
Tackle: 20 Power, 90% accuracy
Thunder Wave: Paralyzes the opposing pokemon 50% accuracy
Growl: Lowers opponents defense by .5
Tail Whip: Lowers opponents attack power for every attack by 5
The Battle
-Each player pm's the mod which pokemon will start. The mod then updated the second post.
-Players pm which attack they will use, or they can opt to change Pokemon. The pokemon with higher speed does its attack first. Damage is calculated like this: 2.5 x (Attack power- 1/2 of Defense rating)= Damage (rounded to nearest 10 multiple of 10) So if the attack power is 12 and the defense of the pokemon is 3, 12-1.5=10.5x2.5=26.25. 30 damage is done to the defending pokemon.
-Weakness: if a pokemon's type is weak to the other pokemon's type, double the damage is applied. A chart to show this will be in Part 3
-Resistance: if a pokemons's type is resistant to the other pokemon's type, damage is reduced by 30. A chart to show this will be in Part 3.
-This is repeated until a pokemon faints. The game ends when all 6 pokemon faint.
Any thoughts? What should be changed?

freezie wrote:Basicly, your resistance/weakness pattern is almost the exact same thing with cards, the double damage and -30 is very true. With some exception.
freezie wrote:For ghost pokemons, they are resistant to psychic. Card games, they aren't, but neither are resistant. Psychic stays a normal attack in the card game against those. In most cases at least. In the real game, they are weak to psychic attack, well the first ones were. Not because they were ghost, because they were ghost/poison. Poison being weak to psychic.
