Partial Bibliography of Nobel Biographies: WIP

Postby DoomYoshi on Tue Mar 05, 2013 7:31 pm

I am done 1901-1910 in Literature, 1901-1925 in all other categories. Unfortunately, Literary people like to write about Literary people so there are tons and that makes it go slow. Also, my main source for those ones is Gale's Dictionary of Literary Biography, which doesn't let me "copy-paste" and manually typing is a bit slower. It isn't slower because I am a slow typer, but the words are often in foreign languages and I have to keep switching back and forth to make sure I get the spelling right.

The ones below the giant dashed lines is sort of a weird section. I included incompletes there, but also foreign language only, but some foreign language onlies are up in the top, so it isn't accurate.

If you are just here for a laugh, check out Rudolf Eucken's list of biographies (1908 Literature).

Also, weird fact I learned: the N in Leon N Cooper stands for: the letter N.

The asterisks mean the people are still alive, I am missing some of them as well but I only put them for the laureates that don't have a book.

Finally updated this again with my most current working copy. I still have from 1950-2012 in Literature to do and 1969-2012 in Physiology. I am trying to get a copy of a Medical Professional Bibliography to help with the medicine one.

Then, I will add the Economics and finally I might add some Kyoto prize winners.

Might be a useful source. Who are you working on at the moment?

I'm related by marriage to an economics winner 1975.

It will make a killer random list for books to read.

You should make it a list on wiki. I'm sure other people would enjoy it.

It doesn`t meet completeness or editorial standards. I don`t have ISBNs or even author names, and I don`t intend to change that. I will just continue in my secretive, plodding list-making way.

Throw a few names our way, and we can maybe help.

That's the list of economists.

I haven't even started it. You see the format I use, if you are going to add, try to keep the same (or similar format). Thanks, symm.

I'd rather you give names of people you were having trouble with.

1969- http://www.amazon.co.uk/CONVERSATIONS-ECONOMISTS-V-Kantorovich-A-Samuelson-ebook/dp/B002T460HW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1369334678&sr=8-3&keywords=jan+tinbergen

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ragnar-Frisch-l%C3%A9conom%C3%A9trie-linvention-dinstruments/dp/6131541124/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1369334900&sr=8-1&keywords=Ragnar+Frisch

1970- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Paul-Samuelson-Being-Economist/dp/097426153X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1369335405&sr=1-1&keywords=Paul+Samuelson

1971- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kuznets-person-writing-Discussion-papers/dp/B0007BFNEK/ref=sr_1_63?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1369335652&sr=1-63&keywords=Simon+Kuznets

Scroll to the bottom of the list in the OP in the spoiler. Alternately ctrl-f "No book for..." and you will see the list. It's a huge amount.

Look, I like your project, and the ambition behind it, but I'd rather help out in plugging gaps. The stuff I posted above was just simple Amazon searching. That stuff is easy, but no fun. I'd rather dig up the troublemakers than do the grunt work. Anyway, hope those links helped.

I understand that. The OP has all the gaps. The only names listed are ones I have actually checked.
