Watch your spoilers folks. What did you think of the new series?

I'm pacing myself, at one episode a day. And then after I watch the season, I'll watch it again and see if I pick up on any missed tidbits.

I binged and watched them all. I do think I might need to watch them again as the series tends to get better on repeat viewings though.

The entire series was released on Netflix on the same day.

Ok. I don't have Netflix. Record them and send them to me please Symmetry.

They're in the mail. If they don't arrive soon, I trust you'll watch them perfectly legally elsewhere.

Do I need to watch the previous seasons before I watch this one? Or can I start from there?

Start from the previous seasons. The series is famous for the way jokes build over time.

Yeah, the show isn't necessarily like an anthology show where you can show-up at any point. You'll enjoy it more building from the first episode to the last of this season I imagine.

I only watched the first season. Given the relative lack of television viewing time I allot myself on a weekly basis, I switched to Breaking Bad (on Netflix). To give you some perspective before you yell at me, I started Breaking Bad two months ago and just finished the first season.

That being said, Arrested Development is a fantastic and original show.

You picked the right two series to go with.

Hmm... I need to anger you somehow.

I also watch Homeland (almost done season 1) and Good Wife (just finished the 2012-2013 season) with mrs. thegreekdog. I enjoy both of those shows.

Ok. Homeland was fun, but I got bored with season 2. Didn't watch Good Wife, but I raise you Orphan Black.

It's worth watching an episode or two to see if you like the way it's going anyway.

I'm at about episode 10. First three eps were... meh. They were tripping over themselves with jokes and stuff. Really hating Michael Cera's George Michael- it feels like he's not really giving much to the character. Got better at about ep 4 for me. The Tobias and Gob episodes have been the best imo.

That said, I'm not too crazy about the format (following each individual character). Part of the greatness of the original series was the extensive interactions between all the characters, and they've kinda limited that.

It does pick up later on, but yes, I think you hit the nail. Plus the Gob stuff (apart from the wedding) was fun.

Where the movie market is failing to make quality films, the rise of the TV series is stronger than ever. Great choice with Breaking Bad, I haven't seen Homeland but am keen to find some time to sit down and watch that though right now I'm deep into Mad Men (just finished the 2nd series of 6 so far).

This is why I mostly just go backwards, and watch classic films.

In the past 10 years there have been some outstanding television shows. I would say that started with The Sopranos and 24. I may do some research to see if I've missed anything.

I always wanted to watch Breaking Bad, but like I said I am inhibited by work, children, and the choices of my wife (she will not like Breaking Bad and she will watch zero science fiction*). I'm very much enjoying it, but it's rather depressing (which I guess is the point).

* My wife does not like to read or watch anything that is remotely "not possible." She won't watch any fantasy or science fiction television or movies for that very reason. No Star Wars, no Star Trek, no LOTR. My response to her was that the things that happen on a show like 24, which she loves, is also not remotely possible. That does not sway her, unfortunately.
