now it looks like there is way too much foreskins. compared to the planet's popluation. I though that with that many americans chopped off foreskins would win. Why do most americans do that? I remember when I wen 1 year to college in the US, I was kind of afraid of what american girls would think of a guy still sporting his, as if it was something completely anti hygienic.

I've got a friend who had his foreskin removed for medical reasons as an adult. It was elective surgery but he was not warned of potential loss of feeling. Four years on he says he still suffers from massively reduced sensation, and tells me that he is not alone, a significant number of others who have been circumsised as adults report similar loss of sensation. He points out that if men circumcised as infants suffer the same they wouldn't know as they have nothing to compare it with. He also tells me that he hasn't found any good evidence for health or hygeine benefits for circumcision. He is careful to say that the practice is nowhere near as horrific as female genital mutilation. But he does say it is highly questionable, that he would never dream of having children of his own circumcised. If I wasn't so squeamish I might have googled to see if there is any external supporting evidence. Because this is my friend's story you understand. It is not about me.

I had this done for medical reasons also (and I'm not about to be squeamish or shy about it - it's just a fact) and I agree that there is a loss of feeling. If it's done purely for hygeine reasons then I think it's a cop-out, just shake a few extra times when peeing or whatever and pull it back when you have a shower to clean in there, it's like having all your fingernails removed to prevent dirt buildup underneath them. But there are other legitimate medical reasons to need this paticular operation (I won't identify the one that forced me into it, that's getting a little too personal) and if it's one of these reasons (phimosis, recurrent balanoposthitis, BXO, recurrent UT infections, STDs and cancer are the main 6) then it has to be done in much the same way as if your fingernails were getting constantly infected and causing significant pain and discharge then under those conditions it may be wise to have your fingernails removed (direct analogy to balanoposthitis there).

I have no objection to circumcision on purely medical grounds, in fact I would encourage someone advised by a doctor to have it done for those reasons to bite the bullet and have it done, but I do disagree with it for cultural (especially religious) reasons, and I think hygeine is a lame excuse for it too (and take it from someone who has experienced it as an adult the discomfort for 3-6 weeks depending how fast you heal and the loss of sensation just isn't worth saving you time making sure you keep yourself clean 3-6 times a day for a few seconds each time).

I do wonder how strong the medical reasons were.

I had two different doctors recommend it. Once in childhood and once in adulthood. The first one was, fortunately, ignored by my parents. The second one was, fortunately, ignored by me.

Here I am preparing to celebrate my 50th, and my dick still hasn't fallen off nor have I developed any of the terrible symptoms that the doctors predicted. Doctors aren't always right; in fact they they are just as fallible as people in any other line of work. If you ever ignored your mechanic when he told you your transmission needs a rebuild, consider ignoring your doctor when he tells you something similarly shocking.

so the next thread will be on castration? pros and cons? seriously though the doctors at one time did not ask to do it or not in America to an infant they just did it.

We are starting to prove that the more you play risk the more you get it chopped.
I wonder what are the stats concerning field marshalls and generals.

Snipped sometime right after birth. So glad I don't have a horror story about a later-life snipping.

That said, if I were to have a boy, I doubt I'd have him snipped, unless there were some major medical reason to do so.

Bollocks.

I'd say a good reason to have it done is so your kid's weener doesn't look like a piece of cooked macaroni. Otherwise, I dunno.

So does a mushroom look better? It s really annoying for someone who still has it when you feel like it came out of its pocket during the day. Feels like it s drying out, can t imagine what it s like when you ve been with it all your life and you have to get it off as an adult.

I got a friend who got it removed because he became jew and told me it s really horrible. Another friend of mine who is jew by mother and catholic by father didn t get it cut. He s now married to a jew, and when they had a son he wanted to do it with him. He chickened out though, only his son got it chopped. I totally understand the cold feet though lol!
