That a Russian finance house set up to promote the domestic leasing of home-grown types such as the Ilyushin Il-96 in the industry's darkest days should end up as one of the biggest customers of the Bombardier CSeries illustrates how much the country's aviation industry has changed.

That's a great plan. Stimulate the local business by buying better planes from elsewhere. Russia, you suck. Maybe that's why there are Thousands of Russian Brides Waiting for ... YOU!!! Maybe they don't know that I don't actually work at Bombardier.

They have also bought twin Otters built by Viking Aircraft in Canada. Only 4 of them but still, it's kind of related.

Only marginally stupid compared to the British. Right now the electric I am burning is probably making profit for US fat-cats. If not that, then when I buy my groceries, petrol, get the bus, train etc etc

The Russians may buy from others but are they stupid enough to sell everything they have then pay others to use it?

I remember flying in an Ilyushin Il-62. I can't believe it's up to 96, or that the 96 is already old!
