POLL: Royal Baby

Postby saxitoxin on Mon Jul 22, 2013 4:29 pm

I've chosen the top 5 names off Paddy Power and the top 5 names suggested by my G/F Es. Remember, it has to sound good with "King" put in front of it.

Also, will they have him vaccinated or not?

I heard on the news earlier, "...the duke and duchess of Cambridge have given birth to a baby boy", and I thought 'wow, the duke too?'.

Biggest welfare family in history. Surprised no one noticed. I heard the queen gave herself another income raise this year as well.

The royal family are paid for performing their duties and far from being welfare spongers are net earners for UKplc. Also parliament awards raises in the royal list not the royals themselves who have no real power over anything and exist solely for ceremonial, diplomatic, and tourism reasons. In fact if it wasn't for hordes of gullible Americans and Japanese ( mostly) wasting loads of money fawning around them I wouldn't have a problem with abolishing them myself..

they'd be more effective if they made balloon animals after posing for a photo with you, like other leading mascots do

You have to admit they'd be able to offer a more competitive product if they agreed to spend at least 2 hours each day roaming around Hyde Park posing for pictures like other leading mascots.

What duties are they they paid for or are responsible for. Isn't the queen the largest land owner in the world? Those duties must pay well. So these people have no political power? I would say they do.

The Queen only owns Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.

So she doesn't exactly own per se Canada (for example) just because it's in the commonwealth...at least not in the sense that she could sell it to BBS.

The Crown Estate owns much more land, rights, property or whatever.

Profits from the Crown Estate go to the treasury...then the Royals get a certain percentage of that money.

Technically, the Queen owns all the government lands in Canada, but not in reality, so I expect she isn't truly the largest land owner.

Back to OP....Persia is my guess.

Well, the Queen's face is on stamps and money all over the world. Why do you think they call them "Royalties"? :P

Also, if they're just going to use the same names over and over, then it's time we get another King Arthur already!

She is a constitutional monarch, carrying out ceremonial and diplomatic duties on a daily basis, such as meeting heads of governments,I thought this was common knowledge, she has in reality almost zero political power. The wealth largely goes with the job,in old world Europe we exploit our heritage and traditions to make money out of tourism by Americans who have little of this, and others. The Queen is 87 and has and still is making a small fortune for UKplc, well past the normal retirement age.If only her subjects worked half as hard and long as her!All of this is easily checkable
