All inclusive resorts

Postby Jippd on Tue Jul 23, 2013 11:55 pm

I want to go on vacation this October and I'm thinking Mexico/Caribbean. I'm looking for advice on all inclusive resorts. Tell me about your experience, what you liked, what you didn't like, what would have been better, etc. Looking for recommendations of places.

I just started a B&B in my pool house; $56/night, all-inclusive. It's not in Mexico but sometimes some Mexicans hang around the neighborhood. No hot tub privileges, however, and I'd prefer you not enter or leave between the hours of 8 AM and 11 PM as I don't have a hoteliers license yet so can't risk any of my neighbors noticing.

I've been to Sandal's in the Caribbean several times AND DEARLY LOVED IT. It's expensive, to be sure...but there's something to be said for not having to worry about a damn thing while you're there. Now, the last time we went was back in 2004, so it's been a while...I can't speak for how good they are on a more recent basis. But they get five stars from me, timeliness-issue being noted.

Depends what you want. Some countries are good just for beautiful beaches. Some are better if you want to do sightseeing.

Why go to a place just to be secluded from it? I hate people who just hit a resort and ignore the place. Get a guesthouse, feel afraid, be appalled, you pretensions asshole.

I'm going to be in Santa Barbara for the week of August 11-17. Can I get the CC discount?

Why would you want to go to a resort which lets anybody in?

lol; this. Kind of. Theres a few caveats.

But really it depends on the place. Fiji for example is basically a 3rd world dictatorship with a couple of areas that have been ultra-developed for the tourists. Staying off resort would only be recommended if you are really familiar with the place, and ideally you would have local connections (as thats pretty much the only way to ensure you dont get a rough deal).

My usual strategy is stay in the easy option first time you go. Do some research while you're there if you think you'll come back and be a bit more adventurous next time.

Yeah, I really don't go on vacation so I can feel afraid or be appalled. But whatever floats your boat.

yes - $55

Are you going to be at the Sedgwick Reserve? I've been doing some part-time delivery driving for the Crab Shack so if you need lunch just dial me up and I can be there in 90 minutes.

No, on the UCSB campus. Do you deliver there? (You must.) Does the Crab Shack have any vegan offerings?

Warm places suck. Come to Canada and spend more money.
