what's sad is that this is the big "bomb" that snowden was waiting to drop, and all the news is reporting is that he's got asylum in russia and that his dad wants to talk to him.

Two party politics is never about issues, its about individuals. The personal lives of politicians and activists, making the platforms people advocated for all about them (Reaganomics, Obamacare), representing each party as being part of a subculture. Tabloid politics sells and tabloid politics keeps people distracted from actual problems.
