uk vs spain

if fighting broke out over gibraltar, who would win?

spain's enormous hordes of unemployed and frustrated youths
or
the uk's renowned, but small, military?

(basically just '10,000 red coats vs. 100 navy seals' but in a different format)

Seriously, a horde of unemployed youths would pose no serious threat to the actual straights themselves. Sure they would trash up the place and Spain can't pay for the garbage clean up, but I don't think Prince Harry is going to mind. Someone might even suggest the UK create a new "foreign legion," train them all as a proper fighting force and watch as the lazy Spaniards return to Spain as opposed to being a real disciplined (and paid) fighting force. (The French will high five themselves until the Islamic minorities stage another terrorist attack.)

If they both had to rebuild those old wooden ships, but with their current capital and labor, then I'd bet on the UK. The labor regulations of Spain would ruin it for them. Plenty of people would sign up without knowing how to build a ship, but then they couldn't be fired without paying them 2 years pay. Makes sense.

Or until the "Islamic minorities" becomes a majority and they decide to go on jihad for the British Islands.

Uk has nuclear subs and spain doesn t end of the story.
Even with a siege/embargo of the peninsula, spain would stand no chance. Or if they do take it, the UK could take. It back nuking it easy.

Countries with nuclear subs are the coolest. The others can just look the other way if they feel like protesting.
