What's the longest amount of time you've gone w/out shaving?

Postby Crazyirishman on Sat Oct 05, 2013 3:00 pm

and I mean this from the point at which you started shaving, so the first 13- whenevs you hit puberty years of your life don't count (sorry AoG, you'll have to wait a couple more years to participate). Also, was there any particular reason why you decided to wait so long?

For example, my longest is only 2 months from a couple summers ago, when I was living on an island and didn't have to see anybody for those first two months. I've neared that point a couple times this past year, once in Chile and once (ahora) here in Jordan. Those reasons included: I have nobody to impress/ I don't give a f*ck/ let's see what happens since I'll never see any of the people again after a couple months.

I routinely go a week, and look very scraggly after that week. Even when I grow a beard, I still try to keep it trimmed. Though I have let my chin go without trimming before (as I'm doing again currently). I probably let that go for 3 months once before trimming. I need to look somewhat presentable, so I can't go much longer than a week without at least partially cleaning up.

Bollocks.

I had a mustache for 27 years, never shaved it. It's gone now.

If you never shaved it how is it gone?

Also, my max is like 2 weeks. Facial hair is itchy and annoying.

A couple of weeks. By week 4 or so, just getting too itchy to keep it.

Though I do have a cousin that has a little goatee. Put a beret hat on him, he looks like a beatnick but sounds like Rush Limbaugh/Glenn Beck.

Well, now.

I think the last time I was actually clean-shaven was just after Movember last year. So the start of December. I usually have a beard but keep it trimmed, but when I went on holidays back in February I stopped extensively trimming it.

It's still debatable what you're considering "shaving" as I still shave my upper cheeks (near my eyes) and my neck every 1-2 weeks, as well as a general trim to shorten up any hairs that are much longer than they need to be.

I work out in the bush for my summers, so I usually don't shave during the summer anyways. This year I just started earlier and went longer. Unfortunately it sounds like it will be coming off at the end of the month since I promised my girlfriend I'd shave at the end of field season.

I find myself contemplatively stroking it watching hockey now.

I let my moustache grow one Movember. Other than that, however, I shave every day. Unless you're Christian Bale then facial hair is a bit too 'closes his curtains on sunny days' for my liking.

Ah, good point. I probably shave the pubes more frequently. I'm always sporting some sort of facial hair, typically a goatee.

I have a goatee; haven't shaved that in about 5 years. I basically have to shave everything else once a day. Because, you know, Greeks are hairy.

In college, I didn't shave for two years (although I did trim).

6+ years without shaving or trimming. My beard reached my waist. Between the beard and the tattoos, I scared the hell out of old people and dogs, but little kids acted like I was their favorite uncle. Go figure.

I went 4 months last winter. Once it became a spark magnet, I chose to shave it off. I'm going to grow it again this winter, and possibly keep it.

About 5-6 weeks right now - weekly trims and shaving the bits I don't want hairy like my cheeks and around the neckline but basically a full beard for the first time ever.

Previous to this, about 10 days.

To add on to this (not my neocon cousin), if I did let my facial hair go, I'd look like a mountain man, a full fan beard.

I haven't shaved since 1975. Probably longer than most of you have been alive. I do trim almost daily.

My wife of 35 years has never seen my chin (I don't really have one but PLEASE don't tell her).
